In the Tile tools section on the Flooring component tab, are tools that will help you edit tiles in different ways. They are each described below.
Rotate a tile tool
This tool is used for rotating individual tiles after they have been applied to a Flooring surface. To use this tool, follow these steps:
- On the Flooring component tab, select the Rotate a tile tool:
- Move the cursor to the drawing area. The cursor turns into a rotation arrow.
- Move the rotation arrow to a flooring surface. Hovering over a tile will highlight it in blue to show which tile will be affected.
- Click to rotate the tile:
Left-click – rotates the tile counter-clockwise.
Right-click – rotates the tile clockwise. - Keep clicking for each tile that you want to rotate.
- When you are finished, press the Esc key or move the cursor off the drawing area to release the Rotate a tile tool.
Cut a tile
This tool is used for cutting individual tiles after they have been applied to a Flooring surface. To use this tool, follow these steps:
- On the Flooring component tab, select the Cut a tile tool:
- Move the cursor to the drawing area. The cursor turns into an X icon.
- Move the X icon to a flooring surface. Hovering over a tile will highlight it in blue to show which tile will be affected.
- Click to cut the tile. Clicking the same tile multiple times will have different results:
1st click – cuts the tile diagonally from lower left to upper right.
2nd click – cuts the tile diagonally from the lower right to the upper left.
3rd click – removes the cut altogether. - Keep clicking for each tile that you want to cut.
- When you are finished, press the Esc key or move the cursor off the drawing area to release the Cut a tile tool.
Select tiles
This tool unlocks several different selection possibilities to get a selection set of tiles, that you can then perform actions on. This lets you edit your selection set in one go, for example by rotating or cutting tiles or applying a product.
To use this tool, follow these steps:
- On the Flooring component tab, select the Select tiles tool:
- Move the cursor to the drawing area. The cursor turns into a plus icon.
- Move the plus icon to a flooring surface. Hovering over a tile will highlight it in blue to show which tile will be affected.
- As Select method in the Quick Properties box, pick one of the following:
Rectangle – Click and hold the left mouse button to draw a rectangle. All tiles within the rectangle are selected. With this method selected, you can also click and select individual tiles.
Single – Either click each individual tile that you want to select, or click and hold the left mouse button to draw a line to select multiple tiles.
Lasso – Click and hold the left mouse button to draw a lasso. All tiles within the lasso are selected. With this method, you can also click and select individual tiles.
Magic wand – Click a tile to have CET suggest a selection for you. The selection is based on flooring product, i.e. all tiles with the same product within a flooring surface will be selected. - Click to select your tiles, using the chosen select method.
- Your selection set is now highlighted in yellow. To add more tiles to it, repeat step 5.
To remove tiles from your selection set, check the Deselect checkbox in the Quick Properties box and click the tiles that you want to exclude. - When you are finished, press the Esc key or move the cursor off the drawing area to release the Select tiles tool.
You can now perform operations on your selection set, for example by:
- Cutting tiles with the Cut tile tool.
- Rotating tiles with the Rotate tile tool.
- Applying a different flooring product with the Painting tools.
