Before You Start
Make sure your Palette contains the roll products that you want to work with. You will need to set the Installation pattern to Roll like shown in the image below.
Roll Tools
Use the Roll Tools to apply a roll product onto the surface. These tools are described in this article.
Roll bucket fill tool
The Roll bucket fill tool is for quickly applying a roll product to the flooring surface.
To apply a roll product with the Roll bucket fill tool, follow these steps:
- On the Flooring component tab, select the Roll bucket fill tool.
- Move the cursor to the drawing area. The cursor turns into a paint bucket.
- In the Palette field in the Quick Properties box, click to select a roll product.
- Move the paint bucket to a flooring surface.
A built-in aid will visually indicate where the selected product can be applied.- Green = You're good to go
- Red = Product is not compatible with the tile or installation pattern
- Upon green, click once to apply the product to the selected flooring surface.
- The selected product has now been applied. To apply it to more flooring surfaces, repeat step 5.
- Press the Esc key or move the cursor off the drawing area to release the Roll bucket tool.
Move seam tool
The Move seam tool is for adjusting the location of the roll seam on the flooring surface.
To adjust the roll seam with the Move seam tool, follow these steps:
- On the Flooring component tab, select the Move seam tool.
- Move the cursor to a flooring surface. The cursor becomes crosshairs and the material will temporarily be hidden. This is to ensure easy visibility of the seam line.
- Click and hold anywhere on the flooring surface to adjust the location. The seam and edge lines will appear blue indicating that you are editing.
- Moving the seam line to an edge will initiate a snap followed with a help text.
- Release the click to place the new seam line location.
- Press the Esc key or move the cursor off the drawing area to release the Move seam tool.
Add seam tool
The Add seam tool is for adding horizontal seams to the floor surface.
To add the roll seam with the Add seam tool, follow these steps:
- On the Flooring component tab, select the Add seam tool.
- Move the cursor to a flooring surface. The cursor becomes crosshairs and the material will temporarily be hidden. A built-in aid will visually indicate the status of the lines in the drawing.
- Green = an existing seam
- Red = a seam not yet placed
- Blue = edge of flooring surface
- Move the crosshairs (with the attached red line) to the desired placement.
- Click to set the seam in place.
- Press the Esc key or move the cursor off the drawing area to release the Add seam tool.
Roll settings
Roll settings is used to specify how you want your products applied.
To open, click on the Roll settings button.
Each column represents a different value. Some values offer a locking option for a specific product.
- Width displays both the roll’s usable and total width separated by a “/”. The first measurement is the usable width and the second is the total width.

- The usable width is calculated by subtracting the width margin twice from the total width. The usable width will be used when applying the product to a flooring surface.

- Width margin controls the usable width of the product. This margin will be removed from both sides of the roll before use.
- Length margin controls the usable length of the product. This margin will be removed from both ends of the roll before use.
- Cut gap sets the minimum horizontal and vertical distance allowed between cut shapes when calculating reusable waste.
- Sq. cuts controls whether guillotine cuts will be applied when calculating reuse. This will make a square cut between large pieces and place smaller pieces on the sides if possible.
