A set of different tools are at your disposal for creating Flooring Surfaces. They are each described in this article.
Custom shape tool
With this tool, you can define a flooring surface in any shape needed. Each time you click, a new edit point is added to the shape. To use the Custom shape tool, follow these steps:
- On the Flooring component tab, select the Custom shape tool:
- Move the cursor to the drawing area. The Custom shape component is attached to the cursor, and in the Quick Properties box, you can decide whether to draw a line or an arc.
- Click once to set the starting point.
- Move the cursor in any direction and click once each time you want to add an edit point to the custom shape. The Quick Properties box provides the following options:
- Create segment from suggestion: When drawing flooring on top of a CAD drawing, CET will recognize it as a DWG file and read ahead down the line until it finds what it thinks would be a good point to draw to, and suggest that. At this point, you either use the A key to use the suggestion or left-click anywhere you like to place a point. Depending on how tidy the CAD drawing is, the suggestions may or may not be useful and could thus be ignored. This feature is enabled by default, but you can uncheck the box to disable it.
- Use the Quick Properties box while adding points to determine the length and direction of lines, to switch between a line and an arc, and more. You could also use the arrow keys to lock the line direction to 0° (right), 90° (up), 180° (left), or 270° (down).
- Connect the endpoint to the starting point to close the shape. It is important that they meet exactly to fully close the shape.
- The custom shape is now in place and a new, custom shape component is attached to the cursor. To draw more custom flooring surfaces, repeat steps 3-5.
- When you are finished, press the Esc key or move the cursor off the drawing area to release the Custom shape component.
