For maximum flexibility and versatility in your Flooring projects, you have the ability to create custom flooring products based on any image.

You control the naming convention, product variations, size and price, and as soon as you have saved a new product it is ready for use in your project or for sharing with others as a reusable file.

Custom flooring products are created and edited from the Custom products dialog which is opened from the Flooring tab. The distance unit is pulled from the Control Panel.

Creating a custom flooring product

To create a flooring product, follow these steps:

1. Click the icon below the Products area. A new product is added to the Products area, and red highlights indicate what information needs to be added.
   
   
2. In the Product information area, enter the product information for Name, Code, Group, Price, Width, Depth, and Auxiliary data. This information is shown when hovering with the mouse over a product in the Product view and is also used for sorting in the Palette view.
   • In the Width and Depth fields, you can type in the distance unit (mm, cm, m, ', '') that you want to create your product in. The unit in both fields has to match.
   • Auxiliary data is used as an additional way to add information to a custom product such as manufacturer specific data. 
   
   
3. In the Textures area, expand the dropdown menu and choose which material type you want to base your product on. Selecting an appropriate type will make the material look even more realistic, especially in renderings. This is optional.
   
   
   
4. Next, click the icon below the Textures area and select the images that you want to use for your product variations.
   
   • You have to select at least one but no more than 256 image files.
   • CET will prompt warnings should the selected contain more than ~18.8 megapixels.
     
     
5. Click the icon in the bottom right corner of the dialog. The Save dialog pops up.
   
   
6. The product name entered in step 2 is suggested as file name, but you can change it if you want.
   
   Do NOT change the save location as that will make the product unusable.
   
   
7. Click Save.
   
   
8. Your new product is now available in the catalogue and ready to be applied.

Editing a custom flooring product

To edit a flooring product that you have created, open the Custom products dialog and follow these steps:

1. In the Products area, select the product that you want to edit.
   
   
   
   
2. The Product information and Textures areas are now enabled, as well as the buttons at the bottom of the dialog. Products can be copied or removed, their information changed, or variations added or removed.
   
   
3. Click the icon in the bottom right corner of the dialog. The Save dialog pops up.
   
   
4. The original product name is suggested as file name, even if you changed it in the Product information area, but you can change it if you want. Should you change the file name, the original version of the product will remain too.
   
   Do NOT change the save location as that will make the product unusable.
5. Click Save.
