To draw straight walls with varying thicknesses, go to the Wall drawing tab.
Here you will find four different types of straight walls:
- Thin straight wall (without thickness)
- Straight walls (4″ thick)
- Thick straight wall (8″ thick)
- Column
The default height of the walls is 94″, but this can easily be changed with Wall Settings.
To draw a corner with two 4″-thick walls as seen below, follow these steps:
- Select the Straight Walls component and place it in the drawing area by clicking once.
- Set the desired length and angle of the wall, either by moving the cursor in the desired direction or by entering exact values in the green properties box that appears. Confirm by clicking or by hitting Enter on your keyboard.
Use your arrow keys to lock a 0, 90, 180, or 270 degree angle. - An identical wall component appears at the end of the cursor. Move near the first wall and click when the help text "End" appears.
- Enter the length and other properties for the other wall and click.
In the properties box, use the Tab key to navigate through the selections. Use the Spacebar to toggle through the options within each selection. You can also use your cursor and enter numbers directly. - Continue to place walls as needed. Once you are finished, hit Esc on your keyboard, or move your cursor outside of the drawing area to escape the command.
After you have drawn a wall you can still change its length, height, thickness and other values, by selecting the wall and entering the new value in the properties box that appears. Use the properties box to edit one wall. To adjust multiple walls at once, use Wall settings.
Use the various stretch nodes in your 2D and 3D drawing views to adjust your walls. Below are the various types of nodes you can use in the 2D drawing view. The nodes in the 3D view correspond. Left click and hold on any of the nodes to activate. While dragging, enter the value in the green properties box that shows only while active.
- Length
- Width
- Rotate
In the 3D view, underneath the rotation node is one to stretch the height.
Walls that have been attached are connected and can be moved and rotated together. You can detach a wall manually by clicking the yellow triangles (snap points) or by selecting and moving one wall in Single select mode.
