Once you have completed arranging your Article View Settings in the Calculation, you are ready to export your view to a SIF file. This file can then be loaded into any ordering system that you use. Exported SIFs will contain the View Settings you created.
To export a SIF file from the Calculation, follow these steps:
- From the File dropdown menu, click Order export:
- Pick your Export format*. The options available will vary depending on the Extensions you have installed.
- Click the ellipsis ("...") button to name the file and browse for a location for the SIF to be saved.
- Click Export. The SIF file will appear in the file location you selected and can be loaded into any program that can read a SIF.
Validate before export
A Validate before export option is available for Configura SIF files. This setting helps identify issues in your drawing before exporting.
To access this setting, enable the Validate before export in the Calculations tab of the Control Panel.
When enabled:
- A dialog appears before export if warnings or errors are detected in the drawing
- The dialog displays:
- The total number of warnings and errors
-
The number of affected objects
- You can choose to:
- Open Validate Drawing to review and fix issues
- Click Export anyway to proceed despite the warnings or errors
When disabled:
- No validation dialog appears
- The file exports immediately
Should you wish to include manufacturer-specific information in a Configura SIF file, click the Settings button in the Order export dialog and tick the box Use manufacturer-specific export.
Tag Mapping
Core Part Tags are "mapped" to export with specific codes.
For example:
TAG1 maps to SIF keys TG, L1, and U1
TAG2 maps to SIF keys GC, L2, and U2
TAG3 maps to SIF keys T3, L3, and U3
TAG4 maps to SIF keys T4, L4, and U4
TAG5 maps to SIF keys T5, L5, and U5
Depending on which program you are loading the SIF into, the codes will determine the column in which the tag info will be found.

Is there a way to edit what columns export to sif files? Currently our Mfg column isn't exporting and is causing a lot of lost time.
Hi Khaun,
Our Core Team is looking into the SIF export. However, in the meantime, perhaps consider using our Custom SIF: https://support.configura.com/hc/en-us/articles/8112489874967-Custom-SIF
Sincerely,
Saufi
