You can draw divided ceilings in CET with two sides that come together in a peak. To do so, follow these steps:
- Go to the Wall Drawing tab and pick the Divided ceiling component:
- Move the ceiling (in the form of a blue rectangle) into the drawing area. To place a ceiling that’s the same size as the room, move the cursor to the point of intersection of two walls and click to begin positioning.
Snap to the exterior intersection of the walls for the ceiling to be placed at the outside edge of the walls and start at the elevation of the walls. - In the Quick Properties box that appears, enter values for width and angle, or use the width of the walls to snap into position for the ceiling’s edges. Confirm by pressing Enter or left-clicking. Repeat for the second direction of the ceiling as well.
Before the third and last click, you will see this Quick Properties box:
Depth: Length of the final line.
mw: Distance from the first side placed to the highest point of the ceiling.
Mid height: The height of the highest point of the ceiling.
Use the PgUp/PgDn (Page Up/Page Down) keys on your keyboard to change the elevation of your ceiling, enter it into the Quick Properties box or use the stretch nodes.
Adjusting a divided ceiling after placement
Once a ceiling is placed, you can stretch the component manually by clicking and dragging the three yellow snap points:
2D snap points:
- Stretch the width of the divided ceiling.
- Move the placement of the high point of the divided ceiling
- Stretch the length of the divided ceiling.
3D snap points:
- Stretch the width of the divided ceiling.
- Move the placement of the high point of the divided ceiling
- Stretch the length of the divided ceiling.
- Stretch the height of the highest point of the ceiling.
- Stretch the height of the inclined sides symmetrically.
If the Locked property is disabled, you can adjust each inclined side's inclination independently.
Enabling this property will set both sides to the same height.
By selecting the Solid option in the green Quick Properties box that appears when selecting a ceiling in the drawing area, all light will be blocked, including sunlight.
To fill the gap between the top of the wall and the divided ceiling, use 2 walls instead of one, and stretch the height of one side of each wall to meet the height of the ceiling. Use the stretch nodes in the 3D, or enter the Left height and Right height in the Quick Properties box accordingly.
