Setting Up a Team
Before setting up a catalog for a Library in CET, it’s important to complete a few foundational steps to ensure a smooth development process. After assessing your data, models and materials, you will want to make sure you are able to set up a project team. It’s important to recognize that implementing a project is not a passive task, and it requires dedicated time, focus, and cross-functional collaboration. We recommend planning for this by allocating sufficient bandwidth from key roles such as subject-matter experts, project managers, and content managers. Without proper internal ownership and availability, even the most well-scoped project can experience delays, misalignment, or rework. A well-prepared team helps drive momentum and ensures that the project stays on track with business goals. We have attached a document to help guide you through responsibilities and expectations.
Enrolling in the Publishing Program
Manufacturers must also enroll in Configura’s Publishing Program, which provides access to essential resources, and product licenses. Once enrolled, teams should become familiar with MyConfigura, CET and/or Spec (depending on industry), the primary tools used to test product data, symbols, and behaviors. It’s recommended to review training materials, take any necessary training courses, check hardware requirements and explore the software to understand its capabilities and requirements.
Please reach out to your Account Executive for information on the Publishing Program. (Don’t have an account executive? Reach out here: Contact Configura)
Creating a MyConfigura Account
Before you can start your project, you will need a MyConfigura account. MyConfigura is our online portal where you will download the software needed to test your Library.
To get started, follow this guide here: Setting up a MyConfigura Account – Configura Help Center
We also have Getting Started guides here:
Note: Each team member should have their own account – accounts should not be shared.
Learning the Software
Training is one of the most valuable investments you can make as a manufacturer in the Configura ecosystem. By learning how to use the software yourself, you gain first-hand experience with the software’s features, workflows, and capabilities. This practical knowledge will help you better understand what your Library can do, how it behaves in real projects, and where it adds value. It also allows you to thoroughly test your Library before launch, ensuring it works smoothly and meets the needs of your users.
Training also builds confidence and trust with your customers. Once your Library is in use, your team will often be the first point of contact for questions and guidance. By knowing the software inside and out, you can quickly assist users, resolve issues, and share tips to help them succeed. Beyond support, understanding the software gives you the ability to create stronger marketing materials, from accurate renderings to workflow demonstrations, that clearly show the benefits of your products. In short, learning software empowers you to deliver a better product, provide better support, and promote your solutions more effective changes.
