New: Create a new drawing while the program is open. Enable multiple drawings to have up to 5 open at once. (Ctrl + N) |
|
|
Open: Locate an existing drawing file. (Ctrl + O) |
|
|
Save: Select a location where your drawing can be found later. (Ctrl + S) |
|
|
Print Preview: See how a printed paper will look based on your settings in Print Reports. You find it in File tab, from Menu bar. |
|
|
Print Reports: Opens the window to select settings for printing. (Ctrl + P) |
|
|
Cut: Remove selected objects from the drawing and place them on your clipboard. Cut items can be pasted in the current or other drawings. (Ctrl + X) |
|
|
Copy: Place selected items on your clipboard. Copied items can be pasted in the current or other drawings. (Ctrl + C) |
|
|
Paste: Place objects from your clipboard into the drawing. (Ctrl + V) |
|
|
Undo: Revert one step to undo the most recent action. Hover over the icon to see a tooltip telling you what action will be undone. (Ctrl + Z) |

| Redo: Repeat an action that was just undone. (Ctrl + Y) |

Pan: Clicking on this will change your mouse icon into

Zoom in selected group/object: You need to have something selected in the drawing for this to be applicable. Move the camera to the place where a selected group are located. This applies when group select mode is active. To zoom in on an single object this applies when single select mode is active. |
|
Zoom to fit: If your drawing is far away, this moves the camera to a place where the entire drawing is in view. Works the opposite too, zoom out if you are very close to something. |
|
|
Rectangle Select: Draw a rectangle around an area to select everything inside of the shape. When in Single select mode: Left-click and hold to draw a rectangle from left to right - Partial selection.
|
|
|
Select from list: Click to see a list of all objects underneath the cursor, then choose which component to select. (Ctrl + right-click) |
|
|
Position: Move components in a precise location. (R) |
|
| Ruler: Quickly measure distances without placing a dimension component in your drawing. (Ctrl + M) | |
| Snip to Paper View: Draw a shape around an area that you want to transfer to Paper View. | |
|
Remover: Delete one component at a time. (Certain components, such as chain dimensions or custom shapes, have the option to remove a part of it OR the entire object.) (Ctrl + R) |

Zoom rectangle: Drag a rectangle around a portion of the drawing to view close up. |
|
|
Satellite view: See a small thumbnail of your drawing, then scroll to encompass the area you would like to view. |

|
Zoom to New View: Drag a rectangle around a portion of the drawing to view close up. This area will appear in a new view in a window that can be moved to another screen. (Drag right mouse button) |

| 3D follow selected in 2D: Select object in 2D view and 3D view follows and select the object/group in 3D view. | |
| Lasso select: Left-click and draw a circle around or through object to select. | |
| Align: Move and rotate components in line with others. | |
| 3-click rotation: Use 3 clicks to rotate an object from a new rotation center point. | |
| 4-click rotation: Use 4 clicks to rotate an object from a new rotation center point and align to another object. | |
| Help line: Place a line to help space objects. Help lines will not render or print. | |
| Help point: Place a singular point to help space objects. Help points will not render or print. | |
| Three-click dimension: Place a dimension in your drawing. (D) | |
| Chain Dimension: Makes it easier to rapidly measure several successive distances and display a running total of the distance. | |
| Snip to Photo Lab: Draw a rectangle around an area to send to Photo Lab. A thumbnail is created that excludes everything that is not found within the bounds of the rectangle. Use the tools in Photo Lab or the 3D component tab for additional 3D clipping. | |
| Lasso calculation: Draw a line through or around objects to create a filtered Article View in Calculations. |
3D Toolbar only

Orbit: Left or Right-click and hold on a point in the drawing area, this will be the center for the rotation by dragging your mouse around. |
|

Rotate camera: Click and hold anywhere in the drawing area, to move the camera around as if moving your head around from your neck. |
|
|
Elevation: Click and hold in the drawing area, then drag up/down to move the camera down/up. |
|
|
Quick render: Preview a rendering in your 3D view. Click arrow to select preset. |
|
|
|
Follow 2D view: Disabled by default. When enabled, panning and zooming in the 2D view will cause the 3D view to follow. |
Toggle Tools & Others

Single or Group select: Click this tool to toggle between being able to select an individual object in a group, or an entire group. (S) |
|
|
Enable or Disable Snapping: Turn on/off the ability for components to snap to one another. (Hold Shift to override snapping temporarily) |
|
|
Enable or Disable Detailed Tooltips: Once it is enabled, hover over a component in your drawing to see all categories, levels, and Part Tags, and sub-parts associated with it. |
|
|
Enable or Disable Quick Measure mode: Quickly place dimensions between objects and move selected objects to a set distance relative to other objects in your drawing. |
|
|
Enable or Disable extra categories on insert: Pick additional Categories that will automatically be applied to all objects placed thereafter. |
|
|
Enable or Disable Auto Tag on insert: Enabling this tool lets you pick part tags that will automatically be applied to all objects placed thereafter. |
|
|
Graphical snapping: Turn on or off snapping points and control if you would like components to snap only to the ends of other components but not the middle, edges, etc. |

Open the Photo Lab: Access CET's rendering tool. (F2) |
|
| View parts in Spec: Once you have organized the Article View, arranging the parts as needed, you can use the View Parts in Spec button rather than exporting the Article View to Spec |
Symbols in the drawing area
| Switch to 2D/3D view: When in a full view, switch between 2D or 3D. | |

Switch to two views: Split the view to see both 2D and 3D. |

|
Switch to paper view: Switch the drawing space to Paper View. |
|
| Switch to Paper View: When in Paper View edit mode, click on arrow top right corner to go back to Paper View. | |

Yellow triangle (2D view): Click to stretch or disconnect a component in a group. Appears when a component is selected where a connection is. |
|
|
Yellow cone (3D view): Click to stretch or disconnect a component in a group. Appears when a component is selected where a connection is. |

|
Yellow square (2D view): Click to stretch an individual component. Appears when a component is selected. |
|
|
Yellow cylinder (3D view): Click to stretch an individual component. Appears when a component is selected. |
|
|
Yellow circle (2D view): Left-click and drag to rotate; Left-click and release to move the rotation point to another location. |
|
|
Green semi-circle (3D view): Left-click and drag to rotate; Left-click and release to move the rotation point to another location. |
|
| Blue arrows: Switch left-to-right; shown on doors and windows to swap hinge side. | |
| Green arrows: Switch in-or-out; After placement adjust to change windows and doors to open in or out. | |
| Direction arrow: Shows the direction of sun as well as windowsill. After placement adjust with green arrow to change between in- or outside. |
