Understanding Licenses in Configura Software
When you're working with Configura’s software (like CET or Spec) you need a license to access the tools. There are two main roles when it comes to licenses: the License Administrator and the User.
The License Administrator – The Gatekeeper
The License Administrator takes care of licenses for your company or team. They do not need to use the software themselves, but they are generally responsible for:
- Buying licenses
- Assigning them to team members (Note: Spec licenses are found under "Other" under active licenses)
- Reassigning (recalling) them if someone leaves
- Renewing licenses or editing auto billing details
In short, the License Administrator is the behind-the-scenes operator who makes sure everyone has the tools they need.

The User – The One Using the Software
The User is the person who actually works in Spec or another Configura product.
As a User, you will:
Download the software to your computer.
Log in and start working. Once your License Administrator assigns you a license, you simply log in, open the software, and begin designing or developing.
Users do not need to manage licenses. Your only task is to confirm that the License Administrator has assigned you to the correct products.
