Adoption Overview
Successfully adopting Spec is a journey, not a single launch event. From early conversations and trial preparation through launch and ongoing optimization, each stage is designed to help your dealership build confidence, prepare your team, and create a smooth transition to Spec.
Your User Community Ambassador (UCA) will help guide your dealership through key checkpoints along the way, providing resources and support as you prepare, launch, and continue using Spec. After launch, regular check-ins help ensure Spec continues to support your dealership as your needs evolve.
How Spec works
Spec connects your dealership to manufacturer-provided product data through Notify, Configura’s data warehouse. With daily updates, Notify helps deliver manufacturer content and changes to Spec users quickly and efficiently.
Spec also connects with other Configura solutions. Through the Commercial Interiors Library, product data can be used within CET, while integration with Workspace supports CAD-based design workflows. Together, these connections help keep product data aligned across specification and design, creating a more consistent workflow from design through order.
Roles and Responsibilities
Assembling the right internal team is an important part of setting your dealership up for success with Spec. While the size and structure of your team may vary, successful implementation requires clear ownership across leadership, licensing, IT, and day-to-day users.
Each role supports a different part of the process, from making key decisions and managing licenses to preparing your technical environment and helping users adopt Spec. Identifying these responsibilities early helps keep implementation moving, reduces confusion, and ensures your team knows who to turn to when questions arise.
Your team’s involvement doesn’t end after implementation. As your dealership grows, your technology changes, and new team members join, ongoing ownership helps keep Spec running smoothly and ensures your users continue to get the most from it.
The roles below outline the key people who may be involved and what they are responsible for throughout your dealership’s Spec journey.
