What are you seeing? -
Stripes or Banding on Materials
Symptom
Materials display noticeable stripes or banding:

Recommended Solution
Try the following adjustments, then re-render the image to see if the issue is resolved:
- Enable Precise Cache under Photo Lab > Advanced > Global Illumination.
- Lower the Error Tolerance value under Photo Lab > Advanced > Global Illumination
- You can also try increasing the size/scale of the material before it repeats in material lab by adjusting the length/width to help reduce the effect

Try recalculating the material mapping with Auto UV
- Open Edit Graphics.
- Select the Meshes tab.
- Click Make Editable, then select the symbol.
- Ensure Single Mesh Selection mode is enabled.
- Select the mesh you want to modify. The selected mesh will highlight in orange.
- Click Mesh Dialog.
- Select Auto UV from the menu.
- Deselect the mesh to view the updated material mapping.
Black Spots or Graphical Artifacts
Symptom
Materials contain black dots, dark patches or other graphical glitches:
Recommended Solution
Try the following adjustments, then re-render the image to see if the issue is resolved:
- Enable Precise Cache under Photo Lab > Advanced > Global Illumination
- If the symbols are contained within a block, try exploding the block.

- Select the Meshes tab.
- Click Make Editable, then select the symbol.
- Ensure Single Mesh Selection mode is enabled.
- Select the mesh you want to modify. The selected mesh will highlight in orange.

Materials Do Not Align Correctly
Symptom
Textures appear stretched, rotated incorrectly, or misaligned.
Recommended Solution
Try the following adjustments, then re-render the image to see if the issue is resolved:
- Verify the material's orientation and make adjustments if needed within Material Lab

Try recalculating the material mapping with Auto UV
- Open Edit Graphics.
- Select the Meshes tab.

- Select the mesh you want to modify. The selected mesh will highlight in orange.

- Select Auto UV from the menu.
- Deselect the mesh to view the updated material mapping.
Lighting and Colors Look Incorrect
Symptom
Your render may:
- Appear darker or brighter than expected.
- Have an unexpected color tint.
- Look like a filter has been applied.
- Have unrealistic shadows or lighting.
Recommended Solution
Try the following adjustments, then re-render the image to see if the issue is resolved:
- Start with Neutral Settings.
- Reset Post Processing by selecting the Reset button.
- Try turning off ToneMap under Advanced > Post Processing > Color or make minor adjustments to fields in this value.
- Use Natural light render mode under Advanced or Product Lighting or Realistic in Simple mode.
- Verify the lighting setup.
- If using Light Groups, please note that it splits the setting between all fixtures in a group rather than applying that setting to each individual light. E.g, If there are 10 lights in a group with brightness set to 1000 lm, each light will be 100 lm.
Shadows Do Not Appear in Render
Symptom
Objects in the drawing do not cast shadows, even though shadows are enabled in the view.
Recommended Solution
Try the following adjustments, then re-render the image to see if the issue is resolved:
- Verify that a floor has been enabled for the drawing.
- If a floor is present, check the elevation of the symbol and ensure its set to zero.
- Ensure that the Shadows setting under Render Quality > Advanced Settings isn't set to zero.
Transparent or Clear Symbols Render Invisible
Symptom
Transparent or glass materials appear completely invisible in the rendering, even though they are visible in the 3D view.
Recommended Solution
Try the following adjustments, then re-render the image to see if the issue is resolved:
- Ensure that the Transparencies setting under Render Quality > Advanced Settings isn't set to zero.
- If you're using a custom material, open Material Lab and verify that the material's Opacity is set appropriately. Increase the opacity if necessary.
Renderings are Slow
Symptom
Renderings take much longer than expected.
Recommended Solution
- Reduce the rendered area by using 3D Clipping. Please note that 1 type of clipping (isolate or hide) can be used at a time.
- Lower the render quality under Photo Lab > Advanced > Render Quality.
- Lower the image dimension settings under Photo Lab > Advanced > Image Dimensions. The 720P setting works great for presentation.
- If using a ceiling in the drawing, enable Use Area Light in Quick Properties for the ceiling.
