If you have experienced CET freezes as you type out something, for example, changing a file name while saving a file, then here are some steps to solve this common issue relating to Microsoft IME input method.
This issue is most seen on users using logographic writing systems such as Chinese and Japanese since most of them use the Microsoft IME input method by default.
Windows 10
- Under Settings, go to Time & Language, then under Language find the language you are using, click it, and then click Options.
- Under Keyboards, click on Microsoft IME, and then click on Options.
- Click on General.
- Scroll down until you find Use previous version of Microsoft IME, and toggle it to On.
Windows 11
- Under Regional format, open up more options and click on Language options.
- Then open up more options under Microsoft IME, click on Keybard options.
- Click on General.
- Lastly, toggle the Use previous version of Microsoft IME to On.
