View Modes are a collection of categories that control what is seen in the drawing view. There are many pre-existing View Modes that are created by manufacturers that apply specifically to their Extension. 

You can add Custom View Modes through the Edit View Set dialog or from Visibility Settings in Paper View. If you create a new View Mode from the Edit View Set dialog, it will be added to the current View Set by default. 

To create a new View Mode, follow these steps:

1. In the Edit View Set dialog or Visibility Settings in Paper View, click the Add Custom View Mode icon:
   
   
   
   
2. Name your new View Mode and select the checkbox for each category that you want shown. When checking and unchecking the boxes, the current View Mode is active in your 2D and 3D drawing view, View Clip, or Viewport, and you’ll be able to see immediately how your actions affect your drawing views:
   
   
   
   
   Uncheck Visible in Normal View Mode to hide unwanted categories.
   
   
   
3. Click Save. In the View Set editor, your new View Mode is checked; for Visibility Settings in Paper View, your View Mode will be used for your selected View Clip or Viewport.
   

At the top of the Custom View Modes section, you will see the following tools:

	Create a new Custom View Mode
	Load a Custom View Mode (.cmpvs)

Selecting a custom View Mode from the list brings up the following tools:

	Clone: Copies the selected View Mode to create a new Custom View Mode. The categories list is shown so you can make edits to the new View Mode. You can add or remove categories and save the clone.
	Edit: Opens the categories list where you can add or remove categories and save the selected View Mode.
	Export: Creates a .cmpvs file of your custom View Mode for easy reuse or sharing with others. (Note that Custom View Modes stay in your list permanently; exporting is solely for sharing or reusing on another computer.)
	Delete:  Deletes the selected View Mode.
