These are the navigation features only present in the 3D view:
Follow 2D view
This feature is disabled by default. When enabled, panning and zooming in the 2D view will cause the 3D view to follow. Clipping items out of the 3D view that are out of the frame in 2D is an optional setting in the Views tab of the Control Panel. If you have more than one active 2D View, you can select from a drop-down menu which one the 3D View should follow:
Move, Zoom, Circle, and Pan in the 3D Drawing View
The best way to Move, Zoom, Pan, or Circle in your 3D drawing view is to use the various buttons on your mouse. The same tools are found in the context menu when you right-click. These are useful if you are using a trackpad instead of a mouse to navigate, or if you are using a mouse without a scroll wheel. Otherwise, it is most efficient to use your mouse.
For more control over navigation with a trackpad, you can use the View focus point and the Navigation bar from the Views Tab in your Control Panel.
Move
The Move function allows you to move side-to-side in your 3D view without moving any components in your drawing.
To Move in your 3D view, hold down your scroll wheel and drag your mouse around.
This feature can also be accessed from context menu when you right-click in the 3D view.
Follow these steps:
- Right-click in your 3D view and select Move from the context menu.
- Click and hold the left mouse button in the drawing area. The drawing will follow your cursor.
- Release the mouse button. Your cursor is now free.
Zoom
With the Zoom feature you can zoom in on or out from components in the drawing area.
To Zoom, simply hover over an point, roll the wheel away from you to zoom in, and toward you to move out.
This feature can also be accessed from context menu when you right-click in the 3D view:
Follow these steps:
- Right-click in your 3D view and select Zoom In or Out from the context menu.
- Click and hold the left mouse button in the drawing area. Move the mouse away from you to zoom in, or toward you to zoom out. The point over which your mouse hovers when you begin to zoom will be the focal point.
- Release the mouse button. Your cursor is now free.
Circle
The Circle feature allows you to rotate the camera around a point in the 3D view.
To Circle around a point in your drawing, hold down your right mouse button and drag your mouse around. The point over which your mouse hovers when you begin to circle will be the center around which you orbit.
This feature can also be accessed from context menu when you right-click in the 3D view:
Follow these steps:
- Right-click in your 3D view and select Circle from the context menu.
- Click and drag the left mouse button in the drawing area. The point over which your mouse hovers when you begin to circle will be the center around which you orbit.
- Release the mouse button. Your cursor is now free.
Pan
The Pan feature lets you pan the camera in the 3D view as though you are standing still and moving your head to look around.
To Pan, hold down Ctrl on your keyboard and hold down your right mouse button.
This feature can also be accessed from context menu when you right-click in the 3D view:
Follow these steps:
- Right-click in the 3D view and select Pan from the context menu.
- Click and drag the left mouse button in the drawing area in the desired direction.
- Release the mouse button. Your cursor is now free.
