Many components in CET Designer can be stretched in the width, depth, and height dimensions. Clicking and holding the yellow snap points stretch and shrink components.
Stretching a component by width
There are two methods that can be used for stretching components by width:
Method 1 – Stretch after placement:
- Click to select the component in the drawing view.
- Click and hold the snap point, and then drag in the direction you would like to stretch the component.
- A properties box appears with the component’s permitted widths:
- Drag to the desired width, or use the Space bar to move between the values while you hold down your left mouse button.
- When you have selected the desired width, release the mouse button.
Method 2 – Stretch during placement:
- Left-click and release to pick an object from a component tab and hover in the drawing area.
- A properties box appears with the component’s permitted sizes. Press the Tab key to reach the Width line; use the Space bar to move between the values on the highlighted line. When you have selected the desired width, click to place the component.
For some components, you may click and drag in the direction you would like to stretch it. Note that you can only stretch the component’s width using this method, not height or depth. - Once you are finished, hit Esc on your keyboard, or move your cursor outside of the drawing area to escape the command.
Stretching a component by depth
Stretching or shrinking by depth can take place after the component has been placed. For some components, you can determine the depth in the green properties box before placing as well.
Method 1 – Stretch after placement:
- Select the component by clicking it in the drawing view.
- Click and drag the yellow snap point in the direction you would like to stretch the component.
- A properties box appears with the component’s permitted depths. Drag to the desired depth or use the Space bar to move between the values while you hold down the left mouse button.
- When you have selected the desired depth, release the mouse button.
Method 2 – Stretch during placement:
- Left-click and release to pick an object from a component tab and hover in the drawing area.
- A properties box appears with the component’s permitted sizes. Press the Tab key to reach the Depth line; use the Space bar to move between the values and when you have selected the desired one, left-click to place the component.
- Once you are finished, hit Esc on your keyboard, or move your cursor outside of the drawing area to escape the command.
Stretching a component by height
Depending on the component, stretching or shrinking by height can take place ONLY in 3D after the component has been placed, OR may also be selected in the green properties box before a component is placed.
Method 1 – Stretch after placement:
- In the 3D drawing view, click and drag the yellow cylinder on top of a component in the direction you would like to stretch.
- A properties box appears with the component’s permitted heights:
- Drag to the desired height or use the Space bar to move between the values and select the desired one.
- Release the mouse button.
The Spread options control which components are stretched at the same time:
- Individual – Only the selected component is adjusted.
- Sideways – Adjust the height for all components in line with the selected component. (For panels this applies to all panels up until the line meets a junction.)
- Group – Allows you to adjust the height for all components in the same group as the selected component.
Spread options are only available for specific configurable components.
Method 2 – Stretch during placement:
- Left-click and release to pick a component from a component tab and hover in the drawing area.
- A properties box appears with the component’s permitted sizes. Press the Tab key to reach the Height line; use the Space bar to move between the values. When you have selected the desired one, click to place the component.
- Once you are finished, hit Esc on your keyboard, or move your cursor outside of the drawing area to escape the command.
