About the Unit Load Editor
The Unit Load Editor is used to create and edit the unit loads needed for your project. The benefits of using the Unit Load Editor include:
- Customize the type, dimensions, weight, and color of unit loads
- Apply unit load properties to your drawing
- Reuse and rename customized unit load properties
A unit load is a term that refers to the size of an assemblage in which a number of individual items are combined for storage and handling. For example, a pallet represents a unit load that can be moved easily.
The blue rectangle references a single unit load. In this rack, there are a total of 12 unit loads.
Types of Unit Loads
The Unit Load Editor provides unit load Templates that include pre-determined unit load types.
The different unit load Templates include:
- Cartons are normally used for packaging goods
- EU Pallets include standard European pallet types/sizes
- JP Pallets include standard Japan pallet types/sizes
- Misc. Pallets include miscellaneous pallets
- NA Pallets include North American pallet types/sizes
- Totes consist of nestable and stackable storage containers
To select a pre-determined unit load, click the drop-down button and select the +/- box to expand or collapse the different Templates.
Navigating the Unit Load Editor
To open, click Unit Load Editor in the Settings component section.
1. The Template dropdown provides a list of default unit load categories that include: Cartons, EU Pallets, NA Pallets, JP Pallets, Misc. Pallets, and Totes.

- The button will add the selected unit load type to your list below.

- The button allows you to edit the name.
- The button creates a copy.
- The button will delete the unit load type.

3. The Properties section is where you can edit the width, length, height, weight, load direction, and color.
4. The Preview Window allows you to visualize your unit load. You can click and hold to rotate the object. These objects reflect the current properties and will update with any changes.
5. Select and Apply will use the selected unit load and temporarily close the Unit Load Editor so you can make updates to the drawing. Save and Apply works the same way and will save any changes before closing out of the window. Press the ESC button on your keyboard to end the command and return to the Unit Load Editor.
Create and Apply a Unit Load
To CREATE a new unit load type, follow these steps:
- Add a new unit load by clicking on the Template drop-down button
- Select the type of unit load you wish to create from the drop-down list
- Click the button to add the selected Template to the list
- Rename the unit load by clicking the button
- Click the button to copy an existing unit load type
- Click the button to delete an existing unit load type
- Use the Properties section to add the settings information
- Click Save and Apply
To APPLY a NEW unit load type, follow these steps:
- Click Select and Apply to apply the new unit load
- Locate the unit load you want to update
- Locate the unit load then click to replace it with the new unit load type
- Press the ESC key to exit the command and return to the Unit Load Editor

Edit and Apply a Unit Load
To EDIT an existing unit load type, follow these steps:
- Select the name of an existing unit load type to edit
- Located under the Templates drop-down that you want to edit
- Rename the unit load by clicking the button
- Click the button to copy an existing unit load type
- Click the button to delete an existing unit load type
- Use the Properties section to edit the settings information
- Click Save and Apply
Select an existing unit load to edit its name/settings
To APPLY an EDITED unit load type, follow these steps:
- Select your desired unit load type
- Click Select and Apply to apply the new/existing unit load
- Locate the unit load you want to update
- Locate the unit load then click to replace it with the new unit load type
- Press the ESC key to exit the command and return to the Unit Load Editor
