This article will explain the purpose of using Templates and how to create one.
About
The Templates feature is a tool used in a drawing to incorporate a set of standards. Templates eliminate the need for a seed drawing by giving you the ability to:
- Save wanted settings to use at the start of your project
- Automatically load a default Template when you start CET
- Ability to protect against mistakenly overwriting a seed/base drawing
You're probably wondering what could be included in a saved Template. The answer? Any imported reusable files and setting files that are usually retained along with a saved drawing, such as:
- custom categories
- embedded schemes
- floor material
- styles
- part tags
- project info
- papers
- calculation view settings
- light settings
- visibility settings
Anything considered to be a preference (such as settings in the Control Panel) will not be saved as part of a Template. These types of settings are typically saved to your computer.
