With the Position tool, you'll get a more precise positioning of objects in CET.
To position a component, follow these steps:
- Press R, or click the Position icon on the 2D toolbar:
- Move the cursor to the drawing area; a target follows.
- Move the target to the object that you want to move. The target snaps to the object, which is also highlighted in blue.
If you want to position multiple object at once, select them all in the drawing before starting the Position tool. - Click when the target snaps to the point where you want to grab the object. The outline of the object follows the target and a quick properties box appears in the top left corner. Here you can enter exact values for the angle and the distance at which you want to move your objects. At the bottom of the box you can also choose if the object should try to snap to other objects after being moved if possible.
- Move the cursor to the desired location and click to place the object.
The Position tool can also be used to move objects at a distance from a selected point, eliminating the need for help lines:
- Press R, or click the Position icon on the 2D toolbar.
- Move the cursor to the drawing area; a target follows.
- Move the target to the object that you want to move. The target snaps to the object, which is also highlighted in blue.
- Click when the target has found the point where you want to grab the object (1). The outline of the object follows the target.
- Right-click to create a reference point (2).
- Move away from the reference point in the direction you want to place the object (3).
- In the properties box in the top left corner, enter the distance from the reference point (4).
- Click the object in place.
