You can add arrows in the paper view to point out parts of a drawing. Read below how you add arrows and how to modify their settings.
These are the same tools that can be found in the Tools Component Tab in your drawing view.
Adding arrows
You can add four different types of arrows; Leader, Leader with two lines, Leader with multiple lines and Leader with multiple lines that stay connected.
Types of arrows
Leader
To add a leader, follow these steps:
- Click the Drawing (paper) tab in Paper View. Click the Leader icon in the Arrows field.
- Move the mouse pointer to the sheet. A leader follows.
- Click once on the sheet. The starting point for the leader’s line is locked on the sheet.
- Move the mouse pointer in the desired direction without holding down the mouse button.
- When the leader has reached the desired length and points in the desired direction, click once. The leader is then placed on the sheet.
Leader with two lines
To add a leader with two lines, follow these steps:
- Click the Drawing (paper) tab in Paper View. Click the Leader with two lines icon in the Arrows field.
- Move the mouse pointer to the sheet. A leader follows.
- Click once on the sheet. The starting point for the leader’s line is locked on the sheet.
- Move the mouse pointer in the desired direction without holding down the mouse button.
- Click once to mark a breaking point.
- You are now able to change the leader’s direction by moving the mouse pointer in the desired direction. When the leader has reached the desired length and points in the desired direction, click once. The leader is then placed on the sheet.
Leader with multiple lines
To add a leader with two lines, follow these steps:
- Click the Drawing (paper) tab in Paper View. Click the Leader with multiple lines icon in the Arrows field.
- Move the mouse pointer to the sheet. A leader follows.
- Click once on the sheet. The starting point for the leader’s line is locked on the sheet.
- Move the mouse pointer in the desired direction without holding down the mouse button.
- Click once to mark a breaking point.
- You are now able to change the leader’s direction by moving the mouse pointer in a new direction.
- Adjust the leader’s length and click once more to change the leader’s direction.
- Repeat the previous step until the leader consists of the desired number of lines.
- Once you are finished, hit Esc on your keyboard, or move your cursor outside of the drawing area to escape the command.
Leader with grouped lines
To add a leader with multiple lines that stay connected, follow these steps:
- Click the Drawing (paper) tab in Paper View. Click the Leader with multiple lines that stay connected icon in the Arrows field.
- Move the mouse pointer to the sheet. A leader follows.
- Click once on the sheet. The starting point for the leader’s line is locked on the sheet.
- Move the mouse pointer in the desired direction without holding down the mouse button.
- Click once to mark a breaking point.
- You are now able to change the leader’s direction by moving the mouse pointer in a new direction.
- Adjust the leader’s length and click once more to change the leader’s direction.
- Repeat the previous step until the leader consists of the desired number of lines.
- Once you are finished, hit Esc on your keyboard, or move your cursor outside of the drawing area to escape the command.
- The leader’s yellow snap points are visible to allow stretching of the lines.
Leader Settings
Select the leader you wish to edit. A properties box is displayed:
You can now edit the following settings:
- Short text: Type a short text to label or identify the leader. The text will follow the leader and keep its relative position if the leader is moved or rotated.
- Text style: Define the style of the short text (if used). Use a predefined Style or click Edit to determine its appearance.
- Horizontal label: Keeps the text horizontal no matter how the leader is rotated.
- Elevation: Choose the elevation of the leader lines as it relates to other objects on the page. The default elevation value for leader lines in Paper View is 0.04″ or 1 mm to ensure full visibility. This can be manually changed.
- 2D Position: Decide the visibility of the leader by selecting Back, Mid, or Front.
- Two arrow heads: Select this option if you wish both leader ends to have an arrow head.
- Arrow head size: Enter the size of the leader’s head(s).
- Line Style: Define the style of the line. Use a predefined Style or click Edit to determine its appearance.
