The top half of the program window is the 2D drawing view in the default split view. Use the toolbar along the top to perform different actions such as zooming, selecting objects, and much more.
It can sometimes be an advantage to use one view at a time as this gives you more space to design. You can choose to view the whole drawing area in 2D by clicking 2D in the View Switcher at the bottom right corner of CET. You can also choose to open a separate 2D view.
Resizing the program window will automatically adjust the toolbar to fit the screen which is why you will sometimes see one row, and sometimes two.

Hi!! Can the 2d view be changed to be a side view instead of the top view?
Hi Ccalvo,
Unfortunately, we do not have that option yet. However, that does sound exciting!.
I will put in a Feature Request.
Sincerely,
Saufi
Hi,
Can 2D lines be seen in the 3D view like CAD files have the option to when you bring them in?
Hi Tanairi,
We do have a 3D Help Line, which is primarily used as guidance for drawing your Walls and other Symbols.
You may read more on that in our article here: Using Drawing Aids – Configura Help Center
I shall put in a Feature Request for 3D Line tools.
Sincerely,
Saufi
