The center area in the Catalogues window is called the Viewing area. This is where all symbols are displayed with a thumbnail, part number and description. If you right-click the description or the part number, you can open the Symbol Replace dialog from the context menu to choose options for that symbol.
To place a symbol, simply click the preview button and place it onto drawing area. The Explorer dialog will hide itself when doing so. Right click, press the Esc key, or move your cursor outside of the drawing area to end the command, and the explorer dialog reappears.
- Dragging and dropping symbols from the viewing area to the drawing is not permitted. Attempting to drag and drop a symbol from this window will show a stop sign.
- The only way to place the symbol is by left-clicking the preview icon to the left of the part number, then placing the symbol in the drawing. Clicking the part number or description will not do anything.
Sort
The list of items in the viewing area can be sorted in ascending or descending alphabetical order by clicking on the Sort icon to the right of the column name. The Sort icon cannot be seen until the cursor hovers over that area.
Filters
The Items shown in the viewing area can be filtered using the Part Number and Description so certain items can be found more easily. The initial Quick Filter tool provides options to build your search criteria one selection at a time. However, if additional filtering actions are needed, the Advanced filter can be used instead. Each column can be filtered independently of the other with either tool but only one version of the filter, Quick or Advanced, can be applied to a column at a time.
