After specifying the products in the project, go to the Calculate page in the lower section (next to the Browse and Specify). Here you can set or modify prices, costs, discounts, and/or margins.
Calculating customer discounts and prices
Some pricing fields in the Calculate page are interdependent, meaning that if you update one, the other will be recalculated and vice versa.
Calculate the discount based on the price
Customer discount can be calculated from the list price and the customer price. If you have set the customer price to a certain value, the customer discount is automatically calculated from the list price and the customer price using the formula:
((List price - Customer price) / List price) * 100 = Customer discount
Calculate the price based on the discount
In a similar way, when updating the customer discount, the customer price will be recalculated using the formula:
List price * (1 - Customer discount / 100) = Customer price
Customer price is a value derived from the cells List price and Customer discount.
Customer discount is a value derived from the cells List price and Customer price.
Choose the discount table to apply on your project
Go to Project settings on the lower center section.
Project settings button.
Select which Discount table revision to apply to the product listed, if any.
a. You can choose the option Always latest revision and the updates if any will apply automatically.
Project settings pop-up dialog.
b. You can also select to run the project without the use of Discount table (None) and add all discounts manually in the Calculate page.
Positive and Negative Discounts
In Aline positive discounts are considered as reducing the price (unlike some other apps like Spec), while entering a negative discount will increase the price.
Rounded vs. Exact Values
Amounts and prices are displayed rounded to two decimals to improve readability. Rounded values display the ≈ symbol to indicate it is not an exact value.
When clicking on a cell the exact value will be displayed.
Values are rounded to whole numbers for improved readability.
Users can choose to display a rounded value of 2 places past the decimal point or display the exact value of 5 places past the decimal point.
At the top of the Calculate page, next to the New line + button, click the checkbox to activate or deactivate rounding.
Updating Catalog Information
Manufacturers can update Catalog data at any time. If there is updated Catalog data available for line items already part of a Customer Project, a user can update the Catalog and the associated data directly from the Calculate page.
If new Catalog data is available, it will be listed on the left panel of the Calculate page, under Catalog information. The Catalog Version will also be listed as "Outdated" in the column.
To update to the most recent Catalog version, click the Upgrade to latest catalogs button. Prior to publishing the project or sending it to the client for review, the user may want to verify the latest Catalog version is used.
