2D/3D DWG Guidelines & Checklist
Before submitting us your DWGs, please double-check the following:
2D Objects
2D elements should have no Z Height
2D elements should only consist of lines, circles, arcs, points, and text
2D elements should not include nested blocks, faces, splines, or ellipses
3D Objects
3D Elements should not include, polyline regions, text, attributes, xref data, acis entities, ellipses, circles, lines, or arcs
3D Elements should be simplified removing unnecessary items such as screws, screw holes, dowel holes, nails, etc. The outer visible shell is most often all that is needed.
General Guidelines
Only DWG files are accepted; all other formats must be converted to DWG
Keep DWG files under 3MB in size
Use the Imperial system for measurements
Use the recommended Sample Layer Standards spreadsheet when naming layers
Layer names must be under 26 characters to avoid truncation by our compiler
Layer names must be in all CAPS and should not have any spaces
Ensure the 0 Layer is empty
Unused Layers should be purged from the drawing
All Layers should be thawed and unlocked
Use the "POINT" command to add nodes/snapping points to symbols
Insertion and base point of the object should be set at (0,0,0)
We recommend the following insertion points:
-
-
- Panels, Power Components, Pedestals: Bottom Left
- Worksurfaces, Desks, Credenzas, Cabinets, Overhead storage: Top Left
-
Tables, Task Lights, Chairs: Center
-
For optimal mesh quality control, we advise converting solids to polyface meshes (3D faces) before
sending them. This allows you to observe how the layers convert and ensures better results.
Submit 2D/3D DWG Files
Please submit the completed DWG files to data@configura.com for review and publication testing. We'll notify you of any updates or changes required. If catalogues are already published elsewhere, please share the enterprise/catalogue codes.
