Naming the DWG Files
How the DWG files are named is completely up to the manufacturer. However, we recommend saving the files in a similar fashion to the Part Number (PN) and indicating if the object is 2D or 3D.
Recommendation:
- Do not use descriptions in the file names
- Only use the model number along
- Add a 2D/3D designator text at the end
Here is an example of a panel and desk:
Part Number | PNL-2460 | DSK-R-3060 |
2D DWG File | PL24_2D.dwg | DSK-R-3060_2D.dwg |
3D DWG File | PL24_3D.dwg | DSK-R-3060_3D.dwg |
Example #1: Commercial Interiors Library for CET
Example #2: Spec
The 3D DWG files are also used for Spec to assist with specifying products.
The 2D and 3D file names should match in the folder and in the spreadsheet. This way the compiler knows which drawing matches the product. Any misspelling will cause the drawing to not show up in Spec and CET.
