About the Frame Editor

The Frame Editor gives you the ability to create, edit, save, and load frame types. The benefits of using the Frame Editor include:

• Ability to edit braces within a frame
• Accommodate specific bracing requirements
• Update frame type directly in the drawing

A frame is the vertical upright component of a racking system that transfers the weight of the stored load to the ground. Typically, a frame consists of the uprights, struts that brace the two verticals, and footplates.

Using the Frame Editor

To open, click Frame Editor in the Settings component section.

1. The Save button will save just the selected frame type. If you have multiple frame types, you will need to save each one individually. Because these files are saved locally, they can be moved or shared. The Load button will allow you to browse for a previously saved frame style. A loaded file is listed in the Types of Frame area.
2. Types of Frame lists your loaded frame type and drawing frame type. Selecting a frame type will preview it in the editing window.
   • • The button will add a new default frame type.
     • The button will refresh the Frame Editor. 
3. There are two types of tools: Bracing and Mirror.
   • • The Bracing tool adds braces to the frame either manually or by auto-populating.
     • The Mirror tool will flip the braces to be mirrored inside the frame.
4. The Editing Window is the area to make the changes to the selected frame type.
   • • The viewing tools include Zoom All, Zoom In, and Zoom Out.
     • The editing tools include Remove, Ruler, and Dimension.
     • The Quick Properties Box includes a check box for Auto-Populate and bracing type patterns.
5. Save and apply existing will save the changes the the selected Bay and replace all of the existing selected Bay types currently in the drawing. Save and apply all allows you to make changes to several Bays at once, then save those changes and apply those changes to the existing Bays in the drawing with one button. Names of Bays that have been edited and are not yet saved will appear in italics. Apply to target allows you to locate the specific Bay or Bays in the drawing to apply the changes to, then click to replace the existing.  Press the ESC key to exit the command and return to the Bay Editor

Creating a New Frame Type

To create a new frame type, follow these steps:

1. Add a new frame type under Types of Frame.
   • Click the  button to add an automated default frame.
   • Click the button to copy an existing frame type.
     
     
2. Enter the name or rename the frame type with the button.
   • Frame types can be renamed at any time!
     
     
3. Click the Bracing tool.
   
   • Follow these steps to Manually add braces:
     1. Use the Ruler and Dimension tool for precision.
     2. Click the frame to place an insertion point.
     3. Move the mouse up and down to adjust the angle.
     4. Click again to place the brace with the frame.
   • Follow these steps to Auto-Populate braces:
     1. Hover the mouse in the Editing Window.
     2. Check the Auto-Populate box.
     3. Select the brace Pattern; D-Bracing, K-Bracing, X-Bracing, or Z-Bracing.
     4. Click the frame to place an insertion point. 
     5. Move the mouse up and down to adjust the angle.
        
        
4. Save the frame type, if desired.

Editing a Frame Type

Mirror and Delete are editing tools that can be used when creating a frame or on saved frame types.

The Mirror tools simply reposition the braces to reflect the original placement. To Mirror the braces, follow these steps:

1. Click the Mirror tool button.
2. Hover the mouse over the frame.
3. Confirm a blue outline around the frame.
4. Click to "mirror" the braces.
5. Save the frame type, if desired.

The Delete tool will remove the braces, one by one, from the frame. To Delete the braces, follow these steps:

1. Click the in the editing window.
2. Hover the mouse over the braces you want to delete.

Applying a Frame Type

To apply a frame type to existing frames inside your drawing, follow these steps:

1. Open the Frame Editor.
2. If necessary, Load a frame type.
3. Select the frame type to be applied.
4. Select an application option:
   • Save and apply existing will save the changes the the selected frame and replace all of the existing selected frame types currently in the drawing
   • Save and apply all allows you to make changes to several frames at once, then save those changes and apply those changes to the existing frames in the drawing with one button. Names of frames that have been edited and are not yet saved will appear in italics
   • Apply to target allows you to locate the specific frame or frames in the drawing to apply the changes to, then click to replace the existing.  Press the ESC key to exit the command and return to the Frame Editor
5. Select the desired frames to update.
