What is It? / How Do I Use It?
The Clean Start/Install helper offers tools to perform actions such as Clean Start, Diagnostic Start, Open Extension Details, Clear CET Settings and Uninstall CET.
To access the dialog window go to the Windows Start Menu > All Apps > Configura CET 64-bit > CET (Clean Start or Recover) 64-bit
If your CET is not performing correctly or things are running a bit slow, this tool can be used to try and resolve those issues going on inside CET. If you are running CET and there is something that was working and is not now, a clean start can often resolve these types of issues.
Clean Start:
The Clean Start button can be used when CET is not acting as it should. This can fix problems within CET. This can fix startup issues, so if CET is giving errors when starting or is not starting, try running the Clean Start Mode.
Diagnostic Start :
When using this button, CET will perform a Clean Start and add extra information to the logs. This is useful when CET Support requires more information troubleshooting issues such as:
- CET is performing slowly
- Extensions are running poorly.
If you are experiencing errors or problems within CET, it would be suggested to run CET from Diagnostic Start before sending in a report to CET via Report Issue.
This will help our developers investigate further by looking at the extra information in the logs. If you use this option, be sure to declare that when sending in the report or chatting with the CET Support Team.
Extension Details :
The Extension Details dialog can be used to install, uninstall, turn off and on extensions, install First Aids and check the latest versions of extensions installed.
In some cases, turning off an extension can help speed up CET. Turning off extensions can help speed up your startup time and/or resolve some performance issues. An example of when you would want to turn off an extension is if you only use an extension once in a while. Turning this extension Off may help reduce your CET startup time. Use this with caution, as turning off a core element of CET can cause it not to start up or become unstable.
It should also be noted that Uninstalling an extension via extension details does not remove it from your account. Uninstalling an extension via extension details is used for troubleshooting purposes. If you would like to uninstall an extension, you will need to do so from the Marketplace. Once uninstalled from Marketplace, go back to CET and click Help > Check for updates. This will prompt CET to uninstall the extension.
If you would like to install extensions, go to the Marketplace, which you can access from the blue button in the top area of CET.
Clear/Reset CET :
This will bring up a Clear/Reset Data and Preferences Dialog Window.
Cached Data :
Various data are generated and stored by CET and its extensions. Clearing this, in some cases can resolve a problem without the need for re-installation and without losing settings and other Data.
Installed Extensions and Updates :
Clicking this box will remove ALL extensions and Updates downloaded since CET was installed. This will revert CET to the “Install Date/Version”. Use with Caution. It is recommended to reach out to CET Support via live chat before using this option.
Log Files :
This will remove all log files saved by CET and only recommended if requested by the CET Support Team or when trying to do a FULL reinstall of CET.
Preferences :
-
CET Settings :
This will remove all settings related to CET itself. Example: Login Settings, measurement settings, dimension settings, photo lab settings, keyboard shortcuts.
-
Schemes :
This will remove all custom scheme settings you have created. It is recommended you save these settings in case you would like to revert to the old scheme settings.
-
Third-Party Settings :
This will remove all custom 3rd party settings you have set inside CET. You may need to contact the manufacturer or extension support to see what settings will be removed.
Catalog Data :
Selecting this will remove ALL catalog Data used by CET and its Extensions. Deleting this is rarely needed (not even when reinstalling) and is only recommended if permanently uninstalling CET on this machine. Removing catalog data will cause CET to re-download ALL extension data. This includes all symbols and materials. It is recommended that you check with CET Support before selecting this option.
Uninstall :
Removes this installation of CET from your machine.
