What Does This Tool Do?
The Calc Test is a developer tool that performs order export based on specified settings and does a comparison of the exported file against a reference.
It exists in the QA Tools extension:
When to Use It?
This tool is made primarily for testing the consistency of symbol data and the order export completeness. You should use this tool when a change is made to an extension, but the change should not affect any order export format and symbol data such as Article numbers, Descriptions, and Options. We also recommended it as a regular test that is executed prior to any major CET update. To further ensure precision of the test runs, real user drawings should be used.
How Does It Work?
Settings
In the Settings dialog, you can set the order export format and also enable the option to use custom view settings for drawing export
Order Exporter
Simple Formats
Calculation text exporter and Calculation XML exporter are the simpler formats that primarily follows the columns and rows in the calculation dialog.
Advanced Formats
Consisting of SPECSIF, OFDA XML and others. These formats will retain their individual setups whilst inserting symbol data into their data frame.
“Use view settings for drawing export”
This option applies only to the Calculation text exporter and Calculation XML exporter.
When disabled, the export will preserve all the columns used in each calculation article, and merges all the data from each article view into one single file.
When enabled, users can specify the custom view settings that they want to use. All article views in the drawing will be disregarded, and a single export based on the custom view settings will be produced for the file.
Export Drawing
Export drawing is an easy and quick way to perform an order export on a particular drawing. The tool does not perform any comparison tests but it is ideal for simple checks for individual drawings whilst development of an extension is underway.
Order Export Batch Test
The order export batch test is made to assist you in creating order exports for a set of drawings, and to compare order exports against a separate set of export files.
Create Reference Order
Creates order exports for a set of drawings that will act as comparison standards or ideals used by the comparison tool, “Compare against reference order”.
Compare Against Reference Order
Allows you feed in a directory of drawings of which it will process to produce new order exports which will subsequently be compared against the drawings’ standard or reference. Each drawing will be checked for deviations from its standard or reference order export file. A text file summarizing the results of the operation will be produce at the end of the cycle.
How to Use the Order Export Batch Test
- Create a folder containing your standard or reference drawings.
- Click on Create reference order.
- Select the folder containing your reference drawings. Click OK.
- Click on Compare against reference order
- Specify the folder containing your reference drawings.
- Specify the folder where you would like your test results to be placed.
- Click Test
- Upon completion, an order export file will be created for each reference file and a text file summarizing the comparison results will be produced.
- Detailed analysis on disputing parts of failed files can be performed using WinMerge.
