All Editions News & Changes
Feeling Fresh? Well, so is CET with its New Look! ✨
- Guess what? We've given CET a fresh new look! Say hello to a sleeker, more modern interface that's easier on the eyes and smoother to navigate.
While providing the CET experience users know and love, we're also constantly looking to enhance usability while paving the foundation to deliver exciting new features. This facelift is our initiative towards a more modernized look and standardized user experience across our platform.
And the best part? Both looks will co-exist for a while to help ease the transition, so it's totally up to you if you want to opt-in and enjoy the makeover or stick with the classic look for now.
Dive in and experience the change for yourself!
New Quick Chain Dimensions
- Introducing Quick Chain Dimensions! Thanks to automatic detection and snapping to snap points on objects, this tool lets you place chain dimensions faster and with fewer clicks. Quick chain dimensions work with any type of objects in CET, from any Extension, and once placed their properties and behavior are equivalent to those of the regular chain dimensions.
New Quick Measure Mode
- We have implemented a new Quick Measure mode to make measuring and dimensioning even easier and smoother. Toggle this mode on with the M key or the icon above the 2D view, select an object and then watch how CET detects and measures the distance to other surrounding objects!
Clicking the target object launches a radial menu with accessible options to select the object, set the distance to the object, or insert the dimension. Once placed, the properties and behavior of these dimensions are equivalent to those of regular dimensions.
CAD Updates
- The CAD Settings dialog now has an option to import materials. Remember that materials are not embedded in your CAD drawing and that you will have to have them available locally on your computer for the import to work.
- When importing a CAD drawing, there is a new option for flattening the 2D in the 3D view. Up until now, this was the default behavior but it can now be enabled/disabled at will.
- The CAD Settings dialog can now be resized. For your convenience, and to support better readability of long file names, just click and drag to adjust the window size. You can also move the vertical divider to adjust how the space in the dialog is being distributed.
Updates to the Customer's Own Material (COM) Dialog
- Product information COMs can now be configured in CET's COM dialog where the following fields are available for editing:
- Part Number
- Description
- Supplier
- Manufacturer
- Length Unit
- Price per Unit
- Shipping Information
- In the COM dialog, users can now choose which material Length unit to use when COM part information is being generated.
- We have added a column to the Calculation, allowing users to enter the length of a material manually. Data from this column will be used in the price calculation of any COM parts that have been created as a result from the COM being applied.
- The Calculation will now display the product information that was set up when creating a COM.
- COM part information will only be displayed as a line in the Calculation if a part number, description, and unit price are provided.
- Upon export, COM part information will be combined if they share the same part number, supplier, shipping info, approval number, and price per unit. Additionally, the original parts to which the COM is applied will be included as an option line in the COM part information.
Movie Studio Retired
- As previously communicated, the Movie Studio Extension is retiring with the release of CET 15.0, and will be automatically removed for you. For similar and additional functionality in creating walkthroughs, renderings, and panoramas, check out Twinmotion.
You can still load any drawings made using the Movie Studio Extension, however, the path functionality will be absent.
News & Changes
CET & Spec Updates
- To ensure consistency between CET's Calculation and Spec, we have added two new columns to the Calculation:
- Manufacturer Code: information is auto-populated from manufacturer product data.
- Generic Code: information is auto-populated from the TAG2 Part Tag assigned to products.
- We are introducing a PMX export to facilitate seamless transfer of full details into Spec.
- The 'View parts in Spec' button will now create a PMX file instead of a Configura SIF file.
- An exported PMX file from the Calculation now supports additional fields that SIF files were unable to support.
- It is now possible to do a PMX Export from the Calculation.
News & Changes
Extension Updates
New! Essential ASRS Extension
- We are happy to announce the release of the Essential ASRS Extension! This newest member to our Essentials for Material Handling family offers a single-mast crane system that can be attached to selective racking systems from Essential Pallet Racking.
Essential Cantilever
- Now features a bracing Pre Configurator, offering users a broader range of options.
- We have improved performance for when stretching cantilever racking objects.
Essential Conveyor
- We have added a new tool, the Total Length Legend. Including this legend in your drawing will help keep track of the total length of your conveyor system. It will also show any part tagged conveyors separately.
- A new speed unit, meters per minute (m/min) has been implemented.
- Curved conveyor units now have more angle options to choose from, with the addition of 20-degrees, 70-degrees, and 75-degrees.
- We have added Pallet Conveyors as a new system type. By doing so, you will have access to some of the most commonly used conveyor parts for moving pallets, such as chain conveyors, and pallet turntables.
- We have tweaked the look of the component tab and settings now have their own tab, and the Products tab houses options to choose between Case and Pallet conveyors.
- To align with the overall facelift that CET is getting, we have given the component tab for the Essential Conveyors Extension a new look.
Essential Pallet Racking
- An update to the Pre Configurator lets you set the Hole Pitch to zero which allows the level beam to be placed on any elevation within the bay.
- Thanks to the new 'None' option in the Pre Configurator, you can now create a selective racking system without unit load.
- We have added a new Logotype option to the Unit Load Editor, enabling users to add and resize logos to pallets.
Essential Shelving
- The Pre Configurator sees the addition of a height input field for bays, letting you specify shelving height as the leading value for your shelving. Entering a height value means that the level clearance and shelf elevation will be adjusted automatically when inserting shelving.
Industrial Equipment
- The quick properties box of the Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) has been equipped with a scaling slider to enable flexible sizing of the model.
Fixes & Enhancements
Improvements
- Japanese Yen (JPY) and Chinese Yuan Renminbi (CNY) now have their own entries in the Control Panel settings for Currency.
- To enhance usability and reduce errors, distance input fields will now warn if you try to enter invalid input by highlighting the text or numbers in red.
- The Selection Criteria tool now offers enhanced support, allowing for more precise selection based on default or custom Text, Lines, Dimensions, Areas, and Hatching styles.
- For drawing tools, modifications made to the styles of Text, Lines, Dimensions, Areas, and Hatching, can now be saved from the tool's quick properties box. Saving the style from the quick properties will enable applying it to objects in the current drawing, whereas saving it from the Styles dialog will allow it to be applied in other drawings, too.
- The chain dimension icon is now added to the 2D tool bar for user convenience.
- To provide a clearer overview and avoid clutter, chain dimensions now default to not showing the dimension for each of their legs. If you want to turn that back on, you can edit how the dimension is displayed from the quick properties box.
- We have updated the tooltips on dimensions to make it clearer what each of the snap points actually do.
- An option has been added to the quick properties box for dimensions and chain dimensions, letting you change their alignment (Diagonal/Vertical/Horizontal) after placement.
- For improved consistency and clarity when working with multiple floors, we have updated the Level Overview by renaming the 'Base' level to 'Outside' when no additional levels are created, and then changing it to 'Base' when additional levels are in fact created.
- We have renamed some of the properties for ceilings, shown in the green quick properties box during both placement and editing.
- We have ensured that all text objects have at least one Category assigned to them to help facilitate view filtering.
- To avoid unwanted changes, we have added a warning that will pop up when you make changes in the Calculation that will affect one or more Blocks or Alternatives.
- For the Catalogue Picklist, found in the Catalogue Browser, we have improved navigation and keyboard usability.
