Step 5: Checklist, Excel Validator Program & Submit Catalogue
Creating a Catalogue Checklist
Before submitting us your catalogues, please double-check the following:
No headers have been renamed, changed, hidden, or moved
Pricing should be formatted as a number with two decimals
All items need to have a price even if it is $0.00
Ensure an equal number of regular Price Zones if you have multiple option Price Zones
(P1, P2, P3 > 01, 02, 03)
DWG file names precisely match the spreadsheet names
File extensions should not be included with the file name
G0-G9 columns can't be skipped; a blank column will skip the remaining options
Friendly reminder, Hedberg contains a few character limits:
- Part Number (PN) = 20 character limit
- Option Number/Code (ON) = 20 character limit
- Option Table (PO) = 100 character limit
As a handy verification tool, you can use the Excel Validator tool supplied here (Excel Validator Download Link) to double check your Excel file.
-
Install and Launch
- After installing, an ExcelValidator shortcut is typically placed on your desktop and/or in your start menu.
- Double-click (or otherwise open) ExcelValidator. The program will begin running in a console window.
-
Check for Updates
- Upon launch, the validator automatically checks for updates.
- If an update is available, ExcelValidator will download it, close, replace its own files, and then restart itself.
-
Select an Excel File
- Once the tool is running (or after it restarts post-update), it will show an Open File dialog box.
- Use this dialog to navigate and select the desired .xlsx file.
-
Validation Process
- After selecting a file, the tool begins its checks. It will read the file, analyze the columns and rows, and print out any issues (errors, warnings) in the console output.
-
Write the Updated (Validated) File
- When the validation completes, the tool will prompt you to press Enter. This writes out a “Validated” version of your Excel file to the same folder where you picked the original file.
- The console will show a progress indicator while the file is being saved.
-
New “Validated” Tab
- In the newly created _Validated workbook, you will see a new worksheet named “Validated” containing all validation messages.
- Red text highlights any errors, while Green text highlights everything that passed or is informational.
-
Repeat or Exit
- After finishing a file, you can press Enter to open another file and repeat the validation process.
- Alternatively, press Esc to quit the application.
Submit Catalogues
Please submit the completed catalogue to data@configura.com for review and publication testing. We'll notify you of any updates or changes required. If catalogues are already published elsewhere, please share the enterprise/catalogue codes.
