Step 4: Add Options → PO, OG, ON, OD, TO, O1-O3, SO & G0-G6
The fourth step involves adding the option details and linking the orderable options to each part number.
G0-G6* columns are located in the SAM tab.
* Additional G columns may be added depending on the product options.
PO, OG, ON, OD, TO, O1-O3, and SO columns are found in the OPTIONS tab.
Here is a quick glossary reminder for the codes in this step:
Code | Name | Definition |
G0-G6* | Options | Numbers represent the option sequences Points to the PO column in the Options tab |
PO* | Option Table Name |
References the G0-G9 columns in the SAM tab |
OG | Option Group Description |
Brief description of the Option Table |
ON | Option Number/Code | Associates a number or code to the option Example: GR-1 |
OD | Option Code Description | Brief description of the Option Number/Code Example: Grade 1 |
TO | Optional Text | Prompts the user to manually enter a value Often used for COMs Example: "Enter COM Number" |
O1-O6 | Option Price | Up or down charge associated with the ON option Up to (6) are allowed |
SO | Sub-Option | Used to point to another Option Table (PO) Allows options to branch to other options |
* G0-G6 and PO are not user-facing values
- Part Number (PN) = 20 character limit
- Option Number/Code (ON) = 20 character limit
- Option Table (PO) = 100 character limit
Understanding the User's Process
- User will select a Part Number (PN) to add to their drawing or spreadsheet. The combined information of Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3 is what makes this happen.
- Selecting a Part Number opens the Part Specifier and prompts the user to select the first Option (G0).
In this example, the "No Stack" option is selected
- Because the Option Group (OG), "Panel Stack", does not have a Sub-Option (SO) value, the finish selection for this group is finished.
Percentage upcharges cannot be used in the Sub-Option (SO) column.
-
The user is then prompted to make a selection for Option (G1). The same concept previously used with Option (G0) applies to all G columns.
In this example, "Grade 1" is selected
- Notice how Option Group (OG), "Paint Grade", includes a Sub-Option (SO).
- Because of the Sub-Option (SO) value, "GRD1", the user is prompted to make a selection from the Option Table (PO) with "GRD1".
In this example, "Platinum" is selected - This pattern continues until there is no longer a value in the Sub-Option (SO) column.
-
The process continues in numerical order for each G column until all G columns have been optioned.
Don't forget!-
- (G) columns that are not used must be deleted
-
Users double-click a desired option until there are no more options available
Understanding the G Columns and OPTIONS Tab
The G* columns represent a selection of options for a Part Number (PN). They are numerically sequenced so G0 comes first, then G1, G2, etc.
* Additional G columns may be added depending on the product options.
These images are examples of how the options are linked for part number PNL-2460.
Final selected options are viewed in the Selected Options box in the Part Specifying Window
