Automatic Updates not Working
For this case, it is most likely due to how the Updates settings are configured in the Control Panel.
You can configure CET to automatically proceed with downloading and installing updates or when you tell it so.
- Allow automatic download of updates: Enables CET to begin downloading and installing automatically without checking the Help menu.
- Install updates at a preferred day and time: Set a specified day and time for CET to proceed with its update process.
Having Extensions Not Updated to the Latest CET Version
Extensions that have not been made available on the latest CET version will block updates.
For example, you have an Extension installed that's only available on CET 11.5. When CET 12.0 is released, you will not be able to update seeing as the Extension is incompatible with CET 12.0.
Depending on how we think an Extension is essential for your day-to-day work is, the following dialogs will be shown:
- Essential:
This means the update will be delayed until these Essential Extensions have updated to the latest version. - Non-Essential:
You may choose to uninstall these and proceed with the update.
You can find the latest Extension Release Dates in another article here.
Staggered Releases
For major version updates (eg: 11.5 -> 12.0), or minor updates (patch 3), we push updates to an increasing amount of user groups for one week, until everyone receives an update, effectively "staggering" an update.
This is done so as CET updates are large in size and can potentially place a large burden on our servers sending the updates to you, impacting user experience.
If you still aren't getting your update after seven days from a major release, feel free to contact customer support.
