Ever wish there were a way to put a dinosaur in your CET drawing? No? Well I have. And maybe you're not interested in pre-historic reptiles, but you MAY have some interest in bringing in symbols that CET doesn't have graphics for. Let's say you're drawing an office that has a popcorn machine. Unfortunately, there are no popcorn machines in our free Extensions or manufacturer Extensions - we're working on that. In the meantime, that would be the type of thing you can get at the SketchUp 3D Warehouse!
The SketchUp 3D Warehouse is your one-stop-shop for all the graphics you could ever want. Essentially, people who use SketchUp can draw anything and upload it to the 3D Warehouse for other people to use for free.
When you install the SketchUp Extension, you can access the 3D Warehouse right in the tab. This will open a window directly to the Warehouse.
Now let's walk through the steps to finding what you need. We'll use an example a little more tame than a dinosaur, I suppose. How about a coffee maker?
Once you are in the 3D Warehouse, you can browse or search for whatever object you would like to bring into CET. Let's search for that coffee maker.
When you search, there are a few different categories of results you can browse through. Some manufacturers create models of their products, so if you are searching for a specific product, stay in the Models tab. The Model tab will give you an overview of different models in diffrent sizes and variatons.
To get a more precise overview and a more targeted search result, use the Filter function on the right.
From the settings that appears on the left you can choose, among other things, Result Types, File Size, Polygon Count, etc. Click Apply down at the bottom to return to the search results.
Click on the download icon directly or click on the picture beloning to the symbol to get more information from inside. Then use the download button from there.
After downloading, the SketchUp model will appear as the latest model preview in CET. Now you can insert and use the symbol in your drawing or Export it to a folder of your choice. SketchUp: Import and Export Files
