To create and edit your materials, you will need to open the Catalogue Creator and go to the Edit Materials tab.
The Tool Box
To the left, you will find a Toolbox where you can make general settings for the materials that you add. To hide/show columns, go to the Visible Columns drop-down menu and select/deselect columns.
Use Custom Resolution – When checked, this allows the use of a custom resolution for the application of the material.
Units – This defines the units to be used when describing a custom resolution.
Horizontal and Vertical – Define the pixels per unit distance when describing a custom resolution.
Find/Replace
There is also a Find/Replace feature to find and/or replace content within large catalogues.
You can filter or sort any of the available columns. To do so, right-click on the header of each column.
Add materials to spreadsheet
To add a material to the spreadsheet, follow these steps:
- Double-click in a field under the Material Code header and enter a unique material code.
- Hit the TAB key twice to confirm the entry and go to the next column, or click in the requested cell
- Enter a Description. Note that there will be one description column for each language that is active in the catalogue.
- Hit the TAB key until you reach the Texture Url [medium] column, or click in the requested cell.
Tere are two ways to add the url:- Click the Browse icon (the three dots) to access an Open dialog
where you can browse for your texture file. Select a file and click open. Note how the Preview column is automatically updated. If you wish, you can also specify a higher quality texture file, intended for rendering. The following file formats are supported: JPEG, Bitmap, PNG and CET’s GMaterial. - Materials can also be auto created by dragging and dropping files to the medium quality column. Materials will be created with code equal to file name.
- Click the Browse icon (the three dots) to access an Open dialog
-
You can also add a file to the Preview Url column which is a thumbnail image that should be used as a preview for the material. This is optional, and if you don’t explicitly specify an image here, the texture file will be used as thumbnail.
Note that the visual preview of a material, in the Preview column, is automatically added when you upload a texture and may not be edited manually.
Better quality images with the Material Lab
If you want to make sure your materials are of the highest quality and will look good in renderings, we suggest you use the Material Lab. To find the material lab, go to the material Explorer in the Tools Menu. Here you can find all available materials. Then click on Material Lab.
