After you have imported a CAD file, you can select the drawing in the 2D view which will display a green quick properties box with the following options:
- Lock Position: Selecting this checkbox locks the CAD plan's position in the drawing area and prevents moving the drawing by mistake. You can still move components that you have placed in the drawing area.
- Activate 2D: Deactivating the 2D removes the ability to snap to or select lines in the CAD plan in the 2D view. To select and reactivate, click the gray border that surrounds the drawing and check Activate 2D.
- Elevation: Set the desired elevation of the CAD plan. Leave at 0 unless using multiple levels.
- Settings: Click this button to open the CAD Settings dialog.
- Zero point: Click Reset to move the CAD file to its original location in relation to the zero point. If the drawing does not have a zero point, a message will alert you, and you can insert a zero point before continuing.
- Lock scale: Deselect to allow the CAD file to be resized.
Right-click an imported CAD drawing to access a number of options in the context menu:
- CAD properties… : Opens the CAD Settings dialog with the Properties tab selected.
- CAD layers… : Opens the CAD Settings dialog with the Layers tab selected.
- Deactivate Cad (dwg/dxf) 2D: Deactivating the 2D removes the ability to snap to or select lines in the CAD plan in the 2D view. To select and reactivate, click the gray border that surrounds the drawing and check Activate 2D, or right-click and select Activate Cad (dwg/dxf) 2D from the context menu.
- Move to zero point: Select this option to move the CAD file to its original location in relation to the zero point.
- Unlink & Convert CAD: Once you are finished with the AutoCAD drawing, you can select this option to convert the AutoCAD file into simple lines, or a “dummy” component. This enables sharing the CET drawing with others without requiring access to the AutoCAD file in question. This removes the file from the list of imported drawings in your CAD Settings dialog because it is not longer seen as linked to an external file.
