CET and its extensions generate data that can grow large over time. If CET is using significant disk space, you can free up storage by following these recommended steps.
- Clear Cache
- Remove Old Backup Drawings
- Move Catalogs to a Secondary Drive
- Clear Old CET Versions and Backups
- Remove Unneeded Manufacturers
Clear Cache
CET stores cache data that can be safely cleared. Follow the steps below to clear the cache and free up space:
- Open the Clean Start menu
-
Select Clean/Reset CET from the menu:
-
Check Cached Data, then select Delete.
Important: Please only select the “Cached Data” option in this menu. The other options should be avoided unless specifically instructed by Configura Support.
Note: Clearing the cache will remove completed Photo Lab renderings that are stored in CET’s temporary files. Your drawing settings remain intact, but you’ll need to re-render those images if you haven’t saved them to your computer yet. -
When prompted, select OK.
-
A progress bar will appear. Once complete, you’ll return to the Clean Start menu.
- Select Clean Start from the menu to finish.
Remove Old Backup Drawings
Backup drawing files can build up over time. If these are not cleared regularly, they may take up a lot of space.
To remove them follow the following steps:
- Go to File > Control Panel > Data Management
-
Select the Remove old backup files button:
-
Choose the date range for files you want to delete:
-
Select Remove, then confirm on the next prompt by selecting Yes.
Move Catalogs to a Secondary Drive
While the CET core program must remain on your C: drive, you can move catalogues (which are typically the largest part of CET) to a second internal drive.
For step-by-step instructions, see: Migrating CET Extension Catalogs to another location
If you use the Commercial Interiors Library extension, see: Migrating Notify Catalogs to another location
Clear Old CET Versions and Backups
Over time, old CET versions and version backups can accumulate and take up space. You can remove them by navigating to:
File > Control Panel > Updates & Network > Clear previous versions now
Remove Unneeded Manufacturers
If you no longer need certain manufacturer catalogues:
Go to My License in MyConfigura and mark the manufacturer as "Uninstall".
In CET, run Check for Updates.
Before uninstalling, uncheck the setting “Keep catalogue files after uninstalling catalogue” under
File > Control Panel > Cataloguesto ensure files are fully removed.
