This article will cover the many ways to find and add products to your spreadsheet and the different results they'll produce. The method you chose may depend on the information you have at the time, the stage of the project, or whether the product is available from a manufacturer catalog or not.
Adding Product from the Browse Tab
On the Browse tab, double click on a manufacturer's catalog folder to expand it. The structure of the catalog folders varies and is determined by the manufacturer. You can continue to double click and expand the folders to browse for the individual products. Once a part has been found there are two ways it can be added to the spreadsheet.
Select and Specify
To add the product and make specification selections:
- Double click on the part number in the Browse tab you wish to add. This will open the Part Specifier. See the Part Specifier article for more information about this dialog.
- Double click the Available Options to make the specification selections. When all selections have been made, the Option Prompt will show "No further options."
- Click Accept.
- Enter a Quantity and click OK.
The product will be added to the bottom line of the spreadsheet.
If the options selections haven't been made yet, you can click Skip for the Available Options in the Part Specifier before clicking Accept. This will result in the Option Prompts being shown on the line, the Option Descriptions being shown as UNSELECTED, and the option fields being highlighted in orange. The Status Indicator will remain a until the options are selected.
Another method would be to simply click Accept without taking any actions for the Available Options. This will result in the Option Prompts being shown as NOT DEFINED, the Option Description being shown as INCOMPLETE, and the option fields being highlighted in yellow. The Status Indicator will remain a until the options are selected.
Click and Drag
You can also click and drag a part from the Browse tab directly to a specific line on the spreadsheet. However, this method will not open the Part Specifier and you will not be prompted to enter a quantity. Any modifications to the line will need to be made through the Part Specifier.
Add Product from the Search Tab
If you know the Part Number or Description of the product, or even a portion of the Part Number or Description, you can use the Search tab to find your product more directly. When a Search is performed, it will only display results from the Active catalogs.
Search by Part Number
To search by Part Number, select Part Number from the Search by drop down. In the Search Part Number field, type the Part Number and the results will be displayed below.
To search by a partial Part Number, you must enter at least 3 characters. An * can be used as a wildcard entry. This field is not case specific.

The spreadsheet fields can also be modified manually. You may want to enter information this way if most of the information is known, or if you are entering product or charges that don't have any catalog reference. See the Custom Lines article for more information about entering Custom items.
To manually enter a field, double click into the field and begin typing. You can press Tab or use the arrow keys to move across a spreadsheet line and continue typing.

Once the desired part is found, click to select the line and click OK to add it to the spreadsheet. You can also double click the line.
