When working with a dwg drawing, two functions are available for placing walls on the 2D lines in the drawing:
The functions are found under Dwg tools on the Wall drawing component tab or under CAD Tools on the Tools component tab.
The Dwg tools on the Wall drawing component tab.
The CAD Tools on the Tools component tab.
Generate Thin Walls on a .dwg Layer
To automatically place walls on all lines of a layer in a dwg drawing, follow these steps:
- Click the icon for Generate thin walls on a .dwg layer under Dwg tools on the Wall drawing component tab (or from CAD Tools on the Tools component tab).
- Move the cursor to the drawing area and hover over a layer of the CAD drawing.
Help text will appear with the name of the layer over which you are hovering. - Left-click on the layer.
- Thin walls are placed on all lines within the dwg layer you clicked.
Generate Thin Walls on a .dwg Entity
To automatically place a wall on a specific line or group of lines (entity) but not the entire layer:
- Click the icon for Generate thin walls on a .dwg entity under Dwg tools on the Wall drawing component tab (or from CAD Tools on the Tools component tab).
- Move the cursor to the drawing area and hover over an entity in the dwg drawing.
- Click once on the line in the dwg drawing on which you wish to place a wall.
- Walls are placed on just that specific line or group of lines.
Removing Automatically Placed Walls
If you have generated walls on a dwg drawing with the above tools, you can remove them with the following tools:

Remove Thin Walls from a .dwg Layer
To remove walls that automatically have been placed on all lines of a layer in a dwg, do as follows:
- Click the icon for Remove thin walls from a .dwg layer under Dwg tools on the Wall drawing component tab (or from CAD Tools on the Tools component tab).
- Move the cursor to the 2D or 3D drawing area and hover over the CAD plan with layers from which you want to remove the auto-generated walls.
- Left-click once.
- Walls placed on the lines from the same dwg layer as the selected wall are also removed.
Remove Walls Thin Walls from a .dwg Entity
To remove a wall that automatically was placed on an entity in a dwg drawing, do as follows:
- Click the icon for Remove thin walls from a .dwg entity under Dwg tools on the Wall drawing component tab (or from CAD Tools on the Tools component tab).
- Move the cursor to the 2D or 3D drawing area and hover over a wall on a dwg entity.
- Click once on the wall you wish to remove.
- Only the selected wall is removed.
