CET 16.0 Major: May 27, 2025
All Editions News & Changes
Final Phase of the CET Facelift
- As the next step of the CET Facelift, the toggle to switch to the new UI will be removed and the new UI will be enabled by default.
New Features
New! Choose XREF When Importing
- You can now choose which XREF DWGs to include when importing DWG drawings to CET. On the 'CAD xrefs' tab of the CAD Settings dialog, simply select which ones you'd like load, and then click 'Insert'.
New! Double Doors
- Double Doors are now available directly in the Walls tab. Many users have been requesting Double Doors in CET, and they already existed but were hard to find. Based on that feedback, we've given them their own button and placed it prominently in the Accessories section of the Walls tab.
Enhanced Catalogue Browser Query Functionality
- Catalogue Browser queries now support direct modification of part data, enabling you to update part numbers and option information directly within the Query interface. This enhancement streamlines the part management workflow by eliminating the need to navigate to separate screens for basic data updates.
In the upcoming CET 16.0 Patch 1 we'll complete the enhanced query functionality by adding pricing modification capabilities.
Improvements
CAD Settings
The CAD Settings dialog is seeing a facelift and some important updates:
- Layer handling is now significantly faster. Previously, CET had difficulty managing just a few dozen layers, but it can now efficiently handle thousands.
- The dialog now supports searching using inexact matching. It is no longer necessary to respect character case, and you can type just part of the layer name to find what you’re looking for. If you add a * (star) in your search, it will look for results that include whatever’s before and after the star, no matter what order the words appear in.
Overall Performance
- The performance when navigating the 3D view, most prominently when working with a large DWG drawing in it, has been greatly improved. In many cases, we've observed upwards to an 800% improvement.
- The UI responsiveness and performance stability of the Catalogue Downloader have been improved when downloading large volumes of files.
- The time it takes to load and fill a component tab with contents is now faster. CET is also displaying a progress bar to help show when contents are loading.
- Some overall enhancements have been made to improve performance in all types of renders.
Categorization
- We have reworked the way the Categorization Dialog displays categories. It now shows only the categories directly applied to the symbol as checked. Previously, it also showed parent categories as checked, even when they weren’t applied, which could cause confusion.
- Dimensions no longer receive Categories from View Modes when copied. This makes them more intuitive to work with, as many users did not expect them to receive categories such as 'Architectural' and 'CAD' when copied into 'View All'. Now the pasted dimensions should, unless an Extension overrides this behavior, have the same categorization as what was copied.
- In CET’s Filter and Categorization dialogs, Flooring is now listed as a subcategory under Architectural, making it easier to filter flooring objects.
- More functionality has been added to the newly released Auto categorization tool! Non-default categories that have been added to an object can now be easily removed via the preview; not only via the Categorization dialog:
Paper View
- To maintain consistency and prevent duplicates, the old view switcher has been removed from the top right corner of Paper View. Only the new view switcher remains, located in the bottom right corner, just as in all other views.
- The icons of the tools in the Drawing section of the Tools (paper) component tab have changed order, so the most used '2D view clip' now comes first.
- It is now possible to change the font size of the Scale add-on for 2D view clips.
- All Dimension icons on the Tools (paper) tab in Paper View have been updated to align with CET's new user interface.
General Updates
- Help dialogs accessed through the question marks found on the Extension tabs in CET have been updated to align with the new user interface.
- Manufacturers listed in the 'Send Feedback' dialog are now ordered alphabetically to make reporting quicker and easier.
- All products in the Bathroom Accessories Extensions have been translated into all languages supported in CET.

- Fixed problem with the Calculation window not retaining the last used size when reopened.
- Fixed problem with the 'Locate on drawing' feature not working in the Calculation while in the Block Edit Mode.
- Fixed problem with submitting an error report for a failed SketchUp import that could result in CET sending a Feature request instead of adding the necessary log files.
- Fixed problem where 3D Viewports in Paper View could sometimes lose their preview when using the Contour rendering option.
- Fixed problem with transparent PNG images in Paper View that could cause dimensions or text boxes to be hidden underneath the image.
- Fixed problem where the 'New' button in Photo Lab overlapped the thumbnails when using CET in French.
- Fixed problem in Photo Lab that could cause the camera to wind up in a different position than the already rendered image, leading to re-renderings of that image to shift.
CET Edition Specific Release Notes
CET Commercial Interiors
New Features

Improvements
- In the Calculation, the 'Textile Length' field has been renamed to 'Material Quantity' to make it more inclusive and accurate for various materials. 'Material Quantity' better reflects the purpose of this field as it now represents the amount of any material needed, regardless of type, and helps ensure a clearer and more versatile data usage across different material applications.

CET Material Handling
New Features
New! Orthographic View Support with Camera Presets
- For the Material Handling Edition of CET, we’re expanding the 3D navigation options in the workspace. In addition to the default perspective view, you can now switch to an orthographic view — ideal for layout planning, alignment, and spatial organization.
- Orthographic mode is advantageous when:
- Very precisely placing furniture, pallet racking, or equipment.
- Checking alignment and spacing without depth perspective.
- Working from fixed, standard angles. - We're also adding certain camera positions that are typical for working in orthographic mode, but they can also be accessed from perspective: Top, Front, Back, Left, and Right. The view from these positions gives you a clear, head-on look at your design, helping ensure everything lines up just right
New! Send to 2D View
- We have added a new 'Send to 2D view' feature to the toolbar in the Elevation Views dialog. Clicking this tool will project and display the selected elevation view in the 2D view of the drawing area.
