Material Mapping refers to the process of assigning different materials or surface appearances to specific objects or layers within a DWG file. It allows you to visually enhance a design by giving different parts of the model different textures, colors, or material properties.
Including Material Mapping in your catalogues provides the user with a preview of the available options and then applies the selected option to the 3D graphic preview. This is done by cross-referencing the material file name to the Catalogue Template.
Available Options cross reference a material image and is applied to the assigned DWG layer
Material Mapping can be utilized in two methods:
Glossary Reference
Code | Name | Definition |
ON_IM | Option Based Image | Small JPG used to display a graphical option such as grommet, handle, pull, foot type, edge style, etc. |
ON_MAT | Option Based Material | Small JPG or PNG used to show material such as an option swatch |
LA | Layer Mapping for Option Material | Name of 3D layers have listed option applied to 3D object in part preview |
