Summary

Spec may close unexpectedly when attempting to open or load a Windows File Explorer dialog.

Error Details

No error message is displayed. Spec closes abruptly and returns to the desktop.

Workaround

If you are experiencing this issue, try the following steps to reduce the likelihood of the crash.

Open Windows File Explorer and:

• Turn Preview pane OFF (Alt + P)

• Turn Details pane OFF

In File Explorer "Folder Options":

• Open File Explorer to: “This PC” (not Quick Access)

• Uncheck Show recently used files and Show frequently used folders

• Click Clear to reset File Explorer history

Affected Actions and Alternative Workflows

The following actions may trigger the issue. Where possible, alternative methods are listed below:

• Opening the file browser to save or load a PMX file

  • To avoid opening the file browser when saving, use the Save hotkey (Ctrl + S).

  • If you need to save the file under a different name, create a copy of the PMX file and rename it outside of Spec.

  • To open a PMX file, you can drag and drop the file directly into the Spec window, and it should open successfully.

• Opening the file browser to import a SIF file

  • As a workaround, drag and drop the SIF file directly into the Spec window to import it, avoiding the file browser dialog.
