Welcome to the 16.5 Minor QA Testing Guide, please check with your developer to make sure 16.5 Minor Migration is successfully completed (if any) before testing.
Bug fixes and improvements🪲
As with any other releases, we're trying to improve by ruling out as much bugs as possible in order to maintain that awesome CET user experience. Hence, these relevant bugs and changes were handpicked for your information, divided into different CET component areas.

Bug fix to Distance fields not typeable
There were a couple of distance fields which does not accept more than 2 digits of values when typed in. With the issue fixed, fields that are DistanceField based should work as usual and not be adversely affected.
Example above shows a distance field in 'Level Overview'
*What to look out for?
- If your manufacturer extension has any Distance fields, ensure that it can accept registered values that are more than 2 digits.
- When the value gets applied in any configuration or product features, ensure that it is still accurate as per input.
Visibility / Categorization / Tags Related
Ind. Tags or part number shifts when features are updated in quick properties
Snappers with individual tags or part numbers can shift in position when making updates to the features in quick properties, this was due to an error in bound collision check which causes the tag to intersect hence the shift in position. With the fix, the individual tags or part numbers should stay in place and not be affected unless manually shifted. Ensuring it works for your manufacturer products, follow *test instructions below:
Example above shows the shift in position of the individual tag when making changes in the quick properties.
*What to look out for?
- Using your manufacturer extension, check that when making changes in the quick properties, it should not affect the position of the individual tag or part numbers in any relevant view modes (if you have a manufacturer specific view mode).
- Verify that the individual tags or part numbers are not affected or missing, it should be accurate as before.
Accurate sorting of tags in part tagging dialog and Bill of Material (BOM)
Developers improved the current sorting logic of part tags mainly in the part tagging dialog and also the bill of material (BOM). The previous behavior relies on natural sorting which does not take into account of multiple digit numerical values. For instance, a numerical array of [1, 2, 10, 21] will be sorted as [1, 10, 2, 21] in CET.
Take a look at the examples below, in the part tagging dialog, TAG 4 category has Tags [1, 10, 2]. In the older CET on the left, it is sorted as Tags [1, 10, 2] where as on the new, it is sorted as Tags [1, 2, 10] but has to be manually done by clicking on the 'Sort' button which is newly added.
In bill of material (BOM), the same applies when the column heading is clicked on to sort.
Comparison of sorting behavior in part tagging and bill of material (CET 16.5 & CET 16.5 Minor)
*What to look out for?
- Using your new or existing manufacturer drawings, ensure the part tags can be sort numerical values accurately in:
- Part tagging dialog, clicking on 'Sort' will sort it accurately.
- Bill of material, clicking on column heading will sort it accurately too.
- Generate a manufacturer printout (if any) of 'PDF' or 'Print Preview' to ensure the sorting of tags are still accurate if ever present in any of the documents.
Crash fix when applying tags on objects
Developers fixed a reported issue of a crash when individual tagging is applied on manufacturer objects. With the fix in place, it is important to ensure that tagging still works in general with your manufacturer products. Follow smoke *test instructions below.
*What to look out for?
- Using your manufacturer extension, ensure that all part tagging methods can be applied to your products without crashes or errors.
- Ensure the tags are present accurately in customized view modes, article views, and in paper space.
Styles Related
Dimension styles in paper space and edit viewclip mode
Users can now customize dimensions with their manufacturer or custom styles in paper space and also edit viewclip mode. This was added for consistency across, where certain styles that were used in the drawing space can also be reused. However, do note that paper space dimension styles follows a different component group in which the styles are independent where as styles in edit viewclip mode can be interchangeably used between drawing space. Follow smoke *test instructions below.
Dimensions styles in paper space has a different component group hence has default values out of the box
Dimensions in edit viewclip mode shares the same component group as drawing space, hence can be reused
*What to look out for?
- Using your manufacturer styles, ensure it can be used on the dimension styles in paperspace and edit viewclip mode. Ensure when in use, the dimension, line, text styles look accurate when compared in drawing space.
- Ensure that by making updates to the manufacturer styles then 'Save' and 'Save as' works flawlessly in the dimension quick properties.
- Verify with the dimension styles applied, it should reflect accurately in Print Preview / PDFs / manufacturer printouts.

Highlight color for manufacturer registered tabs
Some manufacturers were asking if their registered article tabs could be changed to a different color as it could cause confusion sometimes. Thus, manufacturer registered article tabs are now highlighted in 'grey' with an icon when selected. This will be made permanent with no other color options. Follow *test instructions below.
How it was previously on the left (CET 16.5) and the new behavior on the right (CET 16.5 Minor)
*What to look out for?
- Using your manufacturer extension, ensure your manufacturer registered tab (if any) in bill of material (BOM) has a logo and turns into grey color highlight when it is selected.
- Make sure the UI and tooltips for each registered article view look good visually.
-
Verify that the registered article views function properly when setting columns, sorting, filtering, etc.
*Note: Some manufacturers will lock their article views, so you cannot do the following
Can't delete the Article View
Can't hide the Columns in the Article View
Can't use the Columns tab in View Settings dialog
Can't load View Settings into this view

Save closed entries in Project Info
The Project Info now has the ability to provide options to save changes made when closing the dialog, the prompt will only be shown if changes have been made. The information will only be saved until CET is closed. Previously, it had 'OK' and 'Cancel' buttons which are now changed to 'Apply' and 'Cancel'.
Information should not retain after clicking on 'No' or 'Cancel'.
*What to look out for?
- If your manufacturer extension has 'Project Information' feature, ensure that information is kept when clicked on 'Yes' to save. Otherwise when clicked on 'Cancel' or 'No'.
- Manufacturers need to verify whether their own custom Project Info still applies and save changes correctly according to their implementations. For context, some manufacturers removed the buttons at the bottom of their dialog, so it always saves on dialog close for them.
- With the project information filled, generate a manufacturer printout (if any) of 'PDF' or 'Print Preview' to ensure the project information variables are still kept and is accurate.
New features🆕
We're continuously improving in each releases to provide more features that brings more value into CET. Here's what you need to know, divided into different CET component areas.
Walls and architectural
String measure in wall animations
In effort to improve wall insert accuracy, a string measure is added and be shown by default in the middle of the wall during insert or stretch animations to depict the length in real time. The measure is applicable to all type of walls and will follow the unit set in the region settings in control panel.
The measure can be disabled by switching to 'Hide' in the Drawing aid feature in the wall animation property box.
Starting a wall animation has a string measure in the middle
There are no manufacturer specific testing instructions for this feature as it is well tested internally. However, feel free to try out this feature on an exploratory basis.
