Previously known as the Security tab.
On the Data Management tab, you can edit the following settings:
The Data Management tab in the Control Panel
Auto backup
- Use auto backup: Select this checkbox if you want CET to save auto-backup files of your drawings (8 is default). Read more >>
-
Preferred auto backup location: Users have the option to choose where they save backup files for a drawing.
- Next to drawing: Select the radio button "Next to drawing" to save the auto backup files in the same location as the drawing file. A "_CET Backups" folder is created to store the auto backup files. To access auto backup drawings read more>>
- Choose location: Select the radio button for "Choose location." By default is set to save in user CET Documents > autobackup. Click the ellipses next to the file path to navigate to a new save location.
- View backups and autosaves button: Located in the File Menu > Recent tab. The dialog will only show auto backup files contained in "_CET Backups" from the selected location in Control Panel for "Choose location" setting or the auto backup files contained in "_CET Backups" next to the drawing for "Next to drawing" setting. The Dialog will only show the auto backup files from the last 3 most recent places or paths.
Auto-save
-
Use auto-save: Select this checkbox if you wish CET to save your work periodically while in process. Read more >>
- Number of auto-save files per drawing: Set how many auto saved drawings CET should save per drawing (2 drawings are default).
- Minutes between auto save: Decide how often your drawing should be auto-saved during your work process. Choose a time interval between 5 – 90 minutes (9 minutes are default).
- View auto saves: Click to open the location of the autosave files in File Explorer.
File mirroring
-
Use file mirroring: Select this checkbox if you want CET to create copies of all your drawings and backups to multiple locations of your choice, which could be local or a network drive.
You will want to keep the file mirroring folder path as short as possible, to avoid reaching character limits on some file systems, as CET will duplicate the folder structure
Cleaning
- Remove old backup files: Clicking the Remove old backup files will prompt the system to remove auto backup and auto-save files. User can select age of files to be removed from the drop down in the prompt (the default is 15 days). Click "Remove" to verify files are removed. If there are no files to remove, user will be prompted "No backup files were found".
Some users have experienced moments when CET has seemed frozen while auto saving in the background; this will not happen anymore. When an auto save is about to be done, CET will try not to interrupt your work. If this is not possible you will receive a message telling you that CET is in the process of auto saving your work and that this may take a moment.
