This article lists the antivirus exceptions for CIL (Commercial Interior Library) applications. These applications include the CIL extension in CET, CIL for AutoCAD, Workspace, Spec, and Notify.
To improve the stability and performance of these applications, we recommend adjusting your antivirus settings to allow CIL applications to run without interference. Without these exceptions in place, the applications may run more slowly than expected—or may not run at all.
Our Support team is happy to help you with any additional questions!
Be sure to exclude these executable files from active scanning:
- Spec.exe
- Notify.exe
- ProjectNotify.exe
- DataWarehouse.exe
- DataWarehouseTray.exe
- PmRunAs.exe
File Type exclusions:
It may be necessary to create exceptions for various file types that CIL applications use. Here is a list of some file types used by those applications:
.pmx, .colx, .xml, .sotx, .sif
Folder exclusions:
- "C:\Program Files\Configura Library Platform\Data Warehouse"
- C:\Program Files (x86)\ProjectMatrix\
- "C:\Program Files\ProjectMatrix\ProjectMatrix Data Server"
- "C:\Program Files\ProjectMatrix\ProjectWorkspace 2022\"
- "C:\ProgramData\Configura Library Platform\"
- C:\ProgramData\ProjectMatrix\
In addition, you can exclude these folders and their contents from scanning:
- %APPDATA%\ProjectMatrix
- %APPDATA%\Configura Library Platform
- %LOCALAPPDATA%\ProjectMatrix
- %TEMP%\ProjectMatrix Installs
- %LOCALAPPDATA%\ProjectNotify
- %LOCALAPPDATA%\ProjectSpec
- %LOCALAPPDATA%\ProjectSymbols for AutoCad
- %LOCALAPPDATA%\Configura
- %LOCALAPPDATA%\CET Data and all subfolders
- %LOCALAPPDATA%\Wrapperforexecuteable
- %LOCALAPPDATA%\CILDataHandler
- %LOCALAPPDATA%\CILibraryforAutoCAD\
-
%PUBLIC%\ProjectMatrix
Additional Antivirus considerations:
Some antivirus programs may require more extensive configuration beyond our standard list of exclusions. We’ve found that products like SentinelOne, Webroot, McAfee, Norton and Sophos Intercept X, depending on how they’re deployed and configured, may still interfere with CIL applications’ performance or stability even after base exceptions are added.
If any of these applications continue to experience slowness, freezing, or unexpected crashes after applying the recommended exclusions, we suggest trying the following:
Ensure all CIL-related folders and executable files are excluded from both real-time and behavioral scanning
- Review any policy-enforced overrides or protection modules that may still be monitoring the application despite applied exceptions
-
Review antivirus logs or threat history to check if any CIL-related activity is being flagged or blocked
Note: The examples above are based on observed behavior in customer environments and may vary depending on your specific security settings or policy controls.
Due to the ever-evolving nature and variety of antivirus/antimalware software, we are unable to provide a comprehensive list of other conflicting software. Please use the suggestions above as a way of troubleshooting the antivirus/antimalware software that your company uses.
