Welcome to the 15.5 Minor QA Testing Guide, please check with your developer to make sure 15.5 Minor Migration is successfully completed (if any) before testing.
Bug fixes and improvements🪲
As with any other releases, we're trying to improve by ruling out as much bugs as possible in order to maintain that awesome CET user experience. Hence, these relevant bugs and changes were handpicked for your information, divided into different CET component areas.
User Interface Related
CET Facelift improvements are still rolling out to ensure minor defects are addressed for different cases. Please follow smoke test instructions below for each fix and improvement on your manufacturer extension:
Truncation on selected dropdown values
For this fix, values that are in selection no longer get truncated on dropdown fields though it has enough space to occupy the length of the text.
Dropdown field consisting values.
- By using your manufacturer extension, ensure each of the dropdown fields can display the values in full and not get truncated when it is selected (highlighted in blue).
Auto sizing of image button
Overly large images that were used for the buttons will be auto resized for a better fit within the button.
Comparison of button images without (Left) and with (Right) the auto resizing.
- By using your manufacturer extension, ensure each of the images in the button are well fitted after auto resizing and not get clipped by the blue border when it is clicked on.
- Additionally, the resolution of the images should retain crystal clear.

Minor improvements and optimizations
There are numerous optimizations done that contributed to an ever so slightly efficiency in codes in regards to the categorization dialog. The behavior has not changed so it is expected to work the same as before. It's important to follow these *test instructions to ensure no adverse behavior is introduced.
Categorization dialog with a few categories assigned.
- In categorization dialog, ensure your manufacturer categories (if any) can be ticked and assigned to objects. There should not be any refresh issues and most importantly, no new behaviors should be introduced from the previous CET.
- Ensure your manufacturer categories can be reflected and used in:
- Configuring visibility in viewset, viewmode and also filter.
- File export dialog filter (DWG, IFC, OBJ, etc.).
- Manufacturer installation paper filter (if any) in print dialog.
Notify objects that are hidden in print and have special graphic layers
An improvement was made to the categorization dialog where objects that were set to hide in print will now be notified.
Any objects in drawing space set to 'Hide in print' and in selection will be notified in the categorization dialog.
Object selected is notified that it is hidden from print.
Additionally, objects that have special graphic layers will also be notified in the categorization dialog. In contrast, special layers varies depending on how the catalogue object was created during modelling. These special catalogue objects could potentially cause visibility issues due to some categories on layers that may force it to be hidden in some views from the end user. Without the notification, only a developer can figure out if it is a special catalogue object.
Special catalogue object selected is notified that it is hidden from print and has custom model visibility.
Follow these *test instructions below to ensure it works with your manufacturer extension:
- Place your manufacturer products and ensure if it's hidden in print, have the product in selection and ensure the message will appear in the categorization dialog. Toggling back to show in print will wash away the message.
- If your manufacturer product object happens to be a special catalogue object, another message will be shown to notify.
- If there happens to be 3 / 5 products set hidden in print connected in a group (office worksurface, pallet racking system), selecting the entire layout in group select will still trigger the message unless switched to single selection.
Commercial Interior Library (CIL) object losses assigned categories
Developers have fixed an issue specifically in Commercial Interior Library (CIL), where user assigned categories tend to go missing / unassigned when it is placed multiple times in the drawing space. This leaves an inconvenience where users will have to revisit and reassign categories to the previous placed CIL objects repeatedly. Note that this is only applicable to manufacturers on Commercial Interior Library (CIL) extension.
- Place your manufacturer products from the Commercial Interior Library (CIL) library into drawing space. Assign couple of categories (default, manufacturer, custom). Ensure the assigned categories retains and can be used in visibility configuration in viewset, viewmode and also filter.
- Place more CIL products (new or copy and paste) into drawing space and repeat with the categories assignment. Revisit the previous placed objects and ensure the categories are still assigned and remembered.
- Additionally, save and reload drawing should not remove the assigned categories.

Improvement for creating large PDF prints
To improve performance of exporting large sized PDF files, a new checkbox has been added in the Print Reports dialog.
Reduced precision (smaller file) checkbox is an option added in the Print Reports dialog for users to export their PDF files with lesser details – This will result in a faster export time and smaller pdf file size without compromising the output quality of their PDF.
New checkbox in the print dialog, default unticked.
-
With your existing manufacturer drawing, ensure with the 'Reduced precision' checkbox ticked, the exported PDF papers should not introduce any defects not limited to:
- Missing pages, entities, labels, images.
- Misalignment of contents.
- Still as accurate with / without the 'Reduced precision' checkbox ticked.
- Freezes CET permanently during PDF generation process or inadvertently slower than before.

Missing layer after export CAD file
Exporting a DWG file from CET containing xrefs, but having the xref option unchecked will now keep the layer names as they were.
But there are some cases where this does not fully cooperate, therefore users are advised to keep the xref checkbox enabled to ensure that the correct layer name is kept upon exporting as DWG.
The CAD Export dialog that you can find in (File > Import & Export) and (Paperview > Export).
-
With your existing manufacturer or a new drawing, import a CAD file containing Xrefs into CET. Then, export the entire drawing as a DWG.
-
In the Export CAD dialog, uncheck “Export imported CAD as Xref files”. With the exported drawing as a DWG file, reimport the DWG into CET. Ensure that the previously exported DWG file should have their layer names kept the same as imported into CET.
New features🆕
We're continuously improving in each releases to provide more features that brings more value into CET. Here's what you need to know, divided into different CET component areas.
2D/3D Graphics Related
Live selection preview
There are new changes introduced in Control Panel > Views, where a new toggle is added, to pre-highlight objects before a selection is made, accompanied with the different 2D / 3D selection styles of your choice.
New toggle in Control Panel that corresponds to the selection styles configured.
Whether it's in Single / Group selection, it should pre-highlight the object before or after selection as long as the cursor is hovered on as a feedback to the user. It should work for all objects spanning across all CET industry editions.
Pre-highlighting objects in a drawing in single select.
To ensure this feature is working well on your end, please follow these test instructions below:
- Enable the feature (toggle) in Control Panel:
- By using your manufacturer products in a drawing, ensure that live selection preview can pre-highlight objects in the drawing when it is hovered onto in 2D and 3D space, try it in different selection styles too. Verify the accuracy of the pre-highlight bounds by ensuring it covers the shape and outline of your manufacturer product.
- Ensure the pre-highlight does not work for objects that are hidden, which is controlled by viewmode, category and visibility configurations.
Categorization Related
Auto-categorization
Users can now pre-assign categories to objects upon insert for rapid visibility configurations. This speeds up the workflow by omitting extra steps needing to assign relevant categories post-insert for each and every objects.
In the updated CET, a new icon will appear on the top right menu bar defaulted off. Use this feature in a few simple steps:
- Click to enable the feature, a dropdown of categories will appear.
- Assign your desired categories to the object to be placed.
- Place object and ensure pre-assigned categories are accurately assigned.
Dropdown of the categories for pre-assignment.
The preview toolbar will appear during an insert animation, grayed out categories are the default, pre-assigned otherwise.
To ensure this feature is working well on your end, please follow these test instructions below:
- Enable the feature on the top right menu and ensure in dropdown:
- The correct list of categories is populated, if your manufacturer extension has customized categories, it will appear too.
- Ensure there are no dependency in category pre-assignment, a child category can exist without needing a parent category checked.
- Verify that in the preview toolbar, both the default and pre-assigned categories are accurate for manufacturer objects to be placed during insert animation.
- Check again in the categorization dialog ensuring the categories assigned are *expected.
In CET, there are many objects which has auto-generated parts that completes the puzzle after it has been placed. For instance, worksurface supports or brackets will only appear after the main panels and worksurface has been placed. Due to that, there's bound to be some extra categories assigned post-insert.
Calculation Related
Summary section customizations
The Summary section in Calculations can now be customized to show different pricing types for Buy, Sell, List, and Profit. A new 'Sum By' dropdown can be found in Article View settings > Summary > Settings.
Customization dropdown in Article View settings.
To ensure this feature is working well on your end, please follow these test instructions below:
- In the Article view settings > Summary, change the 'Sum By' values to reflect changes to be based on the different columns. Additionally, you can load your existing files as follow:
- Old Summary Template files - Import an old [.cmsum] template file in the View Settings dialog (default price type should be Sell)
- Load old View Setting files - Load the [.cmclc] file and verify the saved price type is applied (default price type should be Sell)
- Load old drawings - verify the pricing of your manufacturer products is correct for each pricing type (Buy, Sell, List, and Profit) in the Summary section when they change the type in the drop-down
