Selecting a View Clip 2D in Paper View will display yellow stretch nodes. The square nodes along the edge of the rectangle are for Stretching it, while the center node is for Rotating it:
As shown in the image above, selecting a View Clip will clearly indicate which add-ons are applied to it; at the bottom left. This allows for easy editing of applied add-ons by clicking to select them and show their properties box, or for quick removal by clicking the red X:
Selecting a View Clip also opens the quick properties box in the top left corner of Paper View with many different editing options for the View Clip:
- Configure: a drop-down menu visible when there are add-ons applied to the View Clip to enable editing of either the View Clip or its add-ons.
- Shape: select Rectangle, Rounded rectangle or Ellipse. Adding a frame to the View Clip will then follow the selected shape.
- View: a drop-down menu visible when the drawing has Alternatives.
- Visibility: choose which View Mode (i.e. Panels, Electrical, etc.) is seen in the View Clip. Use default View Modes, or create Custom View Modes. Then hide individual categories using the Filter tab. Learn more about Visibility settings for View Clips and Viewports.
- Edit view: click to go into Edit mode where you can adjust the placement, shape and scale of the selected View Clip. Alternately, double-click on a View Clip to enter Edit mode.
- Resize: there are three options for resizing the View Clip:
- Off: resizing is disabled; there are no yellow stretch nodes.
- Scale: resizing is enabled. Click and stretch the yellow nodes. The scale remains the same when the View Clip is resized. More or less of the space will be included in the View Clip.
- Shape: resizing is enabled. Click and stretch the yellow nodes. Resizing the View Clip will change the scale and the contents will remain the same.
- Lock scale: locks the scale to its currently selected value. Stretching the View Clip will resize the rectangle but the scale will remain the same.
- Scale: select one of the pre-defined scale options in the drop-down menu.
- Free Scale: selecting the Custom option in the Scale drop-down menu activates this field where you can enter any scale you want.
Edit mode
Clicking the Edit view button in the quick properties box, or by double-clicking a View Clip will send you to the Edit mode. To return to Paper View again, click this button in the top right corner of your view:
When in Edit mode, you can see the outlines of all of your View Clips to get a sense of what each of them shows, if they are overlapping etc. You can also adjust the placement, shape and scale of the selected View Clip.
Selecting a View Clip in Edit mode also brings up its quick properties box with editing options:
- Shape: select Rectangle, Rounded rectangle or Ellipse. Adding a frame to the View Clip will then follow the selected shape.
- Resize: which options you will see here is depending on what option you have selected in the quick properties box in the Paper View:
- When Resize off/shape in Paper View = Resize off in Edit mode, i.e. resizing is disabled.
- When Resize scale in Paper View = Resize zoom in Edit mode, i.e. resizing is enabled.
- Scale: locks the scale to its currently selected value. Stretching the View Clip will resize the rectangle but the scale will remain the same.
- Free scale 1: selecting the Custom option in the Scale drop-down menu activates this field where you can enter any scale you want.
