The Change speed feature alters the camera speed during a specified transition segment of a camera path. Between a starting point and an end point, the camera starts to either increase or decrease its speed. When the camera reaches the end point of the transition segment, it returns to the original speed until there is a new change, or for the remainder of the path. Along a single camera path there can be several segments, preferably one after another.

To change the camera speed between two points as seen below, follow these steps:

1. Define a camera path by following the instructions found in the chapter Placing a Camera Path or Stationary Camera.
2. Click the Change speed button on the Movie Studio component tab.
   
3. Move the cursor to the drawing area. A yellow double-arrow icon is attached.
4. Move the cursor to the camera path (1). The arrow icon snaps to red dots on the camera path to indicate the segment starting point (2), and a properties box at the top left corner (4) lets you enter a new speed.
5. Click to set the starting point in the desired position. A second, single arrow icon immediately snaps to the camera path to indicate the segment end point (3).
6. Click to set the end point in the desired position.
7. A new arrow icon is now attached to the cursor. If you wish to make additional camera speed changes, repeat steps 5-6. If you do not wish to add further events, move the cursor off the drawing area or press the Esc key on you keyboard to release the arrow icon.

After placement, you can select the segment and set the transition, i.e. how quick the transition to the new value should be at the beginning and the end of the segment. The default transition speed is 30%. This means that the transition to the new speed will take up 1/3 of the entire transition segment.

Example: A camera path in the 2D view with 1) playback starting point; 2) segment starting point; 3) segment end point, and 4) property box for setting the camera speed between the two points. In this example, the camera begins at the speed of 1.06 m/s, which increases to 4 m/s at point 2. It then remains at 4 m/s until point 3 where it decreases to 1.22 m/s.

To select the segment of the path, you can left-click. This may initially select the entire path, so left-click again until just the segment is selected. Alternately, you can hold down Ctrl on your keyboard and right-click to see a list of all objects under your cursor and choose Change speed event.
