Distributed rendering is a way to spread the process of rendering across multiple computers connected to a network. This makes use of idling computers and can reduce the time it takes for renderings to complete.
In CET, this is implemented through two components:
- CET that is equipped with the Render Accelerator Extension (clients),
- and a small freestanding application (the CET Render Server) that is installed on each computer.
No full installation of CET is required on computers only running the Render Server Controller interface.
The Render Server should serve as a resource in the rendering network. Installing the Render Server is free for as many computers as you like, and it doesn’t require CET or a license.
