CET Designer could sometimes run in a compatibility mode. This means that the program runs in a software mode that does not make use of the graphics card at all, only the processor.
Each time CET Designer is started, a test is performed which decides whether CET Designer can run in hardware mode or if software mode has to be used, which CET Designer then switches to automatically. The software mode will let you load drawings even if your computer do not fully meet the system recommendations, or if your graphics card has faulty drivers.
Working in software mode is not recommended because:
- performance is lower
- visibility is poorer
- textures are not available
- moving objects in the 3D view, or rotating the view, will make objects look pixelated and the view less responsive
It is possible to turn the software mode on or off manually from the Extension Manager or Control Panel, but please note that working in software mode is not recommended.
If you get a warning message about compatibility mode in CET Designer, please review our system recommendations to verify that your computer meets or exceeds them. If you have any questions or need help, don’t hesitate to contact CET Support.

Hello!
If your computer meets the minimum requirements of CET Designer we recommend switching to Hardware Mode. Listed in the order of how recommended they are: Hardware Mode, Hardware Safe Mode, Software Mode.
Hardware Safe Mode is mostly intended for lower-powered hardware and troubleshooting purposes.

For the fastest response times, I'd recommend contacting our live support. I can see that you indeed reached to our support, and that we recommended to try a different remote solution, or to run CET Designer on a computer that you have physical access to. If a remote desktop solution does not work properly with CET Designer, this is our typical suggestion.
Certain remote desktop solutions don't use the higher-powered graphics hardware. This means that even though the new computer may contain hardware exceeding the requirements, this hardware is not being used over your current remote connection.
Configura doesn't endorse any remote software over another, but we use LogMeIn in order to remotely access computers for support and it allows the graphics hardware to function properly, so that could be an option if you must connect to the computer remotely.
My company recently purchased a new computer, a gaming pc, with more than enough capacity to handle CET. Because i'm working from home due to the pandemic, I remote into my pc using my laptop and I still get the graphics compatibility issue. As a result, i'm unable to use CET while i'm working from home and have to revert back to using AutoCAD.
I've contacted CET tech support and it has not been resolved.
Is it possible to get back to me a bit sooner this time? Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
helpful, but it doesn't tell me which mode to switch to
