In the Wall Drawing tab, you will find tools for flipping or mirroring objects in CET. These tools can be used on Walls and symbols from Extensions created by Configura (e.g. Plants and Flowers, Office Accessories, Home, etc.)
Flip tools
Flipping symbols will reflect objects in place in your drawing. This does not create a copy - you can do that with the Mirror tool.
Flip Horizontally and Flip Vertically are the same tool but begin in a different state. This means that if you begin by using the Flip Horizontally tool. you can switch to the Vertical version in the Quick Properties box while you are using the tool without ending it.
To flip walls and accessories, follow these steps:
- Left-click and release on either Flip Horizontally or Flip Vertically in the Wall Drawing tab.
- Bring your cursor to the drawing view and hover over the objects you want flipped.
If you have objects selected in the drawing already, the entire selection will be flipped. If you do not have anything selected, or if you hover over an object that is not in the selection, whatever object is under your cursor will be flipped. The tool will take into account if you are in single- or group-select mode. - If needed, check Ignore incompatible in the green Quick Properties box.
- Left-click once you have the correct objects highlighted.
- If you wish to continue flipping other objects, you can keep the tool active. To switch between Horizontal and Vertical, you can switch in the Quick Properties box.
Press the Tab key to move to the next line in the Quick Properties box. Press the Space bar to check & uncheck boxes or move between options on a line. - Once you are finished, hit Esc on your keyboard or move your cursor outside of the drawing area to escape the command.
Mirror tool
Mirroring symbols in your drawing will create a reflected copy of the selected objects across a line that you set. You can set the line at any angle and the objects will mirror accordingly.
To mirror objects in your drawing, follow these steps:
- Left-click and release the Mirror across a line tool in the Wall Drawing tab.
- If you have not done so already, you will be prompted to make a selection with the Rectangle Select tool at the end of your cursor. Once you have selected objects, you will move on to the Mirror tool.
- If you have not done so already, you will be prompted to make a selection with the Rectangle Select tool at the end of your cursor. Once you have selected objects, you will move on to the Mirror tool.
- Click-and-drag to set the angle of the line you want to mirror across. Alternately, you can left-click to place the starting point of your line, then for step four, just place a second left-click to finish setting the angle.
- You will see a preview of your mirrored objects
- Release the mouse button.
- Continue to mirror on other angles as needed.
- Once you are finished, hit Esc on your keyboard or move your cursor outside of the drawing area to escape the command.
Note that if you do not have anything selected when the tool is started, it will begin as the Rectangle Select tool, and you will be required to make a selection to mirror:
Quick Properties for Mirror across a line
While using the Mirror across a line tool, you will see options in the Quick Properties box that vary based on which mode you are in. If starting the tool without something selected in the drawing, you will be in Select Mode. In that case, you will see these properties:
- Ignore incompatible: Disregards objects that cannot be mirrored. Read more below.
- Partial/Enclosed: Determines how objects are included in the selection.
- Partial: objects that overlap with the rectangle's dotted lines are included in the selection
- Enclosed: only items fully inside of the rectangle's solid lines will be included in the selection
If you already have objects selected in your drawing, you will start the tool in Mirror Mode. In this case, you will see these properties:
- Keep original: The selected objects that you are mirroring will stay in your drawing. Uncheck if you want to remove the original and only retain the mirrored version.
- Angle: Type a specific angle for your mirror line to follow. When unlocked, the angle will be determined by your cursor placement.
Ignore incompatible
While using Flip or Mirror tools, you will notice objects in the drawing highlighted in blue that will be flipped. Anything highlighted in red is incompatible.
In the Quick Properties box, keep Ignore incompatible checked so that you can still flip or mirror all compatible objects. If it is unchecked, any incompatible objects in your selection will block the tool, making it impossible to flip or mirror anything, even compatible objects.

I mirrored all my blocks but noticed that it created a WHOLE new set of blocks. I still want to use my original blocks because if I make a change to a block it didn't change in my newly mirrored blocks. Is this intentional or a glitch? It didn't say in this article.
Hi Denise,
Yes, when mirroring a Block, CET will create a new set of Blocks since the position and orientation are not the same, even though it is technically just a flipped version.
Thank you for reporting this. The article has been updated. :D
Sincerely,
Saufi
